Weekend football *Spoilers!*

The sending off was apparently a straight red for the hand in Robbens face. In hindsight, the ref is also to report the tackle on Gudjonnson from Reina.

So hopefully a 6 game ban for two reds! ;)

This is why we need to bring in new wingers (at least on the right) and strikers, if we were able to break with the same pace and skill Chelsea can and have an end product, we'd be better than Chelsea as a team. Nows the time to invest.

lol

pity he wasn't so sharp on his team selection :)

Warnock? why? he's consistantly caught out of position and is just too slow.
We've not played well since the end of Dec and tho losing to Chelsea is no surprise,we could/should have done better in all our other games since Dec.

The challenge was never a red card, yellow at most, maybe not even that if he was lucky. It'd be very cheeky to try and give him a further ban for something that shouldn't have occured had the correct decision been given before (handball).

Aye, except in defence, midfield & up front:)

Well done Chelsea. You took your chances and got the points. Reina was stupid to rise to the bait from chelsea's olympic diver.

I wasn't impressed with chelsea, more disappointed with our inability to take chances. This has cost us dearly both at Stamford bridge and at Old Trafford

Rafa, for heavens sake, buy a striker who can score goals PLEASE!!!!!!

I've heard they have a saying at liverpool:

"Rafa knows"
Its normally followed by a wry smile and a slight nod of the head to indicate that its best not to question the rotund spaniard.

Obviously, this answer doesnt apply when asked:

"WTF? 7 million for Crouch ROFL"
and
"WTF morientes starts AGAIN??!!?"

Well I could have just used  at your post but thought it deserved more than that:)
What makes you think that a right winger & some new strikers would make Liverpool a better team than Chelsea then?

You only have to look at the game today to see that our midfield dominated over Chelseas, the defence i would say were probably equal, but our complete lack of ability up front meant we couldnt take advantage of the chances we created, if we had we could've closed the game down very early on. With a decent right winger and strikers, we'd not only create more chances but put them away as well. We'd definitely be on the level with Chelsea at the very least, but imo we'd be better.

OK, let's look at it this way:

Cech
Gallas
Carvalho
Terry
Del Horno
Makelele
Essien
Lampard
Joe Cole
Robben
Crespo

Was our starting line-up, 4-3-3 as normal, put your current players + any r/wingers or strikers you are likely to get up against them in similar positions & show me how your team will be better than Chelsea's:)

I agree. We do need a right-sided winger but it's not as important now as it was at the start of the season. I think Gerrard and Finnan have been playing very well together and I would be happy if Gerrard played on the right for the rest of the season. IMO it's the finishing that's the only difference between the two teams. We've got an underperforming giraffe that can't even head the ball on target. Put him in a ring with Big Daddy or Giant Haystacks and his wrestling skills would have some use but on a football pitch they don't work. I don't think Cisse or Morientes have been given the same kind of support and opportunities that Crouch has been given but can't see either of them here next year. I think if Rafa sorts out our attack in the summer we can at least match Chelsea next year.

Nice to see Adebayor netting on his debut, an 'ugly' penalty box goal too which is the sort of thing I'm looking for from him.

Also credit to the lads on a getting a clean sheet, wasn't expecting that with only 2 (U21) defenders playing away from home against a physical team like mingham.

Theres not a lot of point speculating on what players we're going to bring in, because ive no idea to be honest. We all know who plays for Liverpool and Chelsea, but i think (and it is a matter of opinion) id be looking to bring in two strikers and a RW, with the talent of players like Torres, Kuyt and Joaquin (dont know whether rafa will spend in the summer though :( ) , add these to our current squad with Gonzalez definitely coming in the summer and i think we'd be a better team.
