Weekend Football Thread 23-26 *spoilers*

Well today was just a joke, how can they put such useless ref in charge of such a big match? He got nearly everything wrong today.

Lucas was allowed to repeatedly foul without getting a yellow
Berbatov was given a yellow for nothing
Carragher should have been sent off for rugby tackling Owen as the last man
Torres diving, the ref even admitting it was a dive! Yet still not getting carded.

Fergie always gets it wrong in the big games as well, why was Berbatov taken off when we needed someone who can pass in the final third? As soon as he came off we just resorted to hoofing it from defence. Giggs was pretty poor today, Rooney was pretty poor. Valencia was the only one who looked like he wanted to make any attempt to get a goal for large periods today.

Liverpool probably deserved to win (although not by the 2-0 scoreline) but massive questions have to be asked by the **** in charge today.
 
Not the best game until late on but 3 points are 3 points. Its good United dropped 3 points tho as Liverpool arent really going to challenge for the league...again
 
Another season and we let a close rival back in the race. No complaints about the ref, no complaints about the score line and for the major decisions the ref got them spot on. Watch Liverpool go on a run of 10 unbeaten or something like that now.

Just because you keep saying its going to be alright doesnt make it so.

The midfield is weak, we have nothing going down the wings, and we offer nothing going forward.
We are just about good enough to beat the average teams, but against EVERY decent side this season, we have been atrocious.
 
Very happy about the result.

Not so happy about the Ref though. Thought it was the wrong choice of ref for such a big match. He seemed too weak to me, didnt give cards for fouls which imo should have warranted cards, didnt give cards for players getting in his face. Contrary to what some might believe I dont think he was biased or out to "get" utd, I just think he was a poor ref who shouldnt really have had this match as his first big 4 clash match.

Happy with the result though, Reina was hilarious at the end. Torres...well...I dont know what more someone can say about him, is there a team in the world which wouldnt want Torres?
 
Now for the biggest game of the weekend. Arsenal Vs West Ham :D

Any predictions?

I'm going for a cagey 1 nil win for the ARSE, West Ham have become our Bogey team I feel.
 
Get the **** in!! We were fantastic today and totally deserved the win. Masch and Lucas totally out battled Scholes and Carrick, Carra totally dominated both Berbatov and Rooney, Torres monstered Vidic (again) and Yossi was fantastic.

Regarding the red cards or lack of them in some cases; Carra could have gone for his foul on Owen but it could have gone either way due to Owen running away from goal and Johnson being right next to him, Vidic was just a matter of time (he probably should have gone earlier for after the foul on Torres early in the 2nd half and the block on Reina) and Masch's was fairly straight forward.

The ref was terrible but certainly not bias, plenty of poor decisions for both sides.

Undoubtedly, he won absolutely everything all afternoon.
 
Our worst start to the season for years and we're still only four points off United :D

Thought any one of Carragher, Lucas, Mascherano, Yossi and Aurelio could've been MOTM for us today. All five were superb.

Lol, didn't watch the game did you ? I can rightly say Benitez was right in his post match interview saying they had 12 men, as the ref was pretty useless in terms of booking Liverpool players and aided them when Carragher should've gone, clear professional foul.
Now I can only hope my team takes advantage as we can be top if we win our 2 games in hand
 
You have to hold your hands up and say Liverpool by far deserved that, they look a different team with Torres, and especially when they play us, they raise their game for those two games a year. We just couldn't hold the possesion, and couldn't move it about as well as we need to.

Unfortunately, any comment on the referee is going to receieve a barrage of abuse about us always blaming the ref, which is a shame, as he was utterly, utterly appauling.
