Weekend Football Thread 31-2 *spoilers*

Interesting result for Liverpool.

Been reading a lot this week about how Real Madrid are giving Pellegrino 2 games to sort things out after their horrendous 4-0 defeat to Alcorcon. (1 match against Getafe, 1 against AC Milan). RM have made it clear before that they are interested in Benitez, and apparently his name is being very much touted in RM circles again.

After todays result against Fulham , and the way the season is unfolding so far for Liverpool. Plus the potential of a bad result against Lyon and the repercussions for that in the CL. I wonder if RM came knocking this time, Benitez might just cut his losses and say yep.

Degens' wasnt a red card - rash but certainly not dangerous - carragher should have gone i guess but zamora was offside according to the linesman!

So happy I have put motd on to record tonight. I am going to have some serious giggles tomorrow. I can only hope it is Alan Hansen on as a pundit.

Edit: It's a real shocker of an afternoon on the Ref's part. 6 or 7 Red cards today.

8 I think and before the game Hansen said it was going to be very difficult for Liverpool. Still say the manager has to be held accountable for this - at least Hansen tells it how it is. It's a shame we don't have a player of his calibre currently at Liverpool.

Game over for Liverpool..could be very soon game over for Rafa too...i mean they are out of the Carling cup...they have a big mountain to climb to qualify for Europe and id say their Prem title challenge is more or less finished.

Good news for Arsenal as its one less team we have to worry about for the top 4 places.

Liverpools season:

Carling Cup - Out
League - Probably Over
Champions League - Dont beat Lyon then they are out.
FA Cup - Cant see that one.

Season effectively over by Wednesday then?

Still, rumours are that Pellegrini is likely to get sacked by Madrid, so Benitez likely to do a Ramos?

The owners can't afford to sack him and he won't quit unless Real come in for him. If that happens I wouldn't even like to think about the sort of team we'll start next season with. Can't see Reina, Mascherano or Torres staying.

Mourinho would be great for the club and league IMHO. Somebody who just knows how to stick with a side and not take off there blooming best players half way through and settle for a draw.

They may not be the owners for much longer (hopefully) if the Arab guy gets in I don't think he'll want to enjoy watching Liverpool play like they do currently.

I think it'd be a big mistake to sack Rafa at the moment it'd send the club into disarray

More than it currently is? You have to change it sometime - obviously if the right person is available to take over - you have to have something in place first.
