Weekend Football Thread 31-2 *spoilers*

I think it'd be a big mistake to sack Rafa at the moment it'd send the club into disarray

I dont think Liverpool would sack him, the pay out for that would be too big. Its more a question of whether or not he would walk this time if RM come knocking. I have no facts or insights, but I suspect he might this time round. I would if I were him.

I suspect because the RM board might think that he can do a job in the spanish league with larger funds compared to the EPL with fewer funds.
I don't understand it either. He got hammered by the Spanish media for producing the most boring team to win La Liga. Capello won Real the league with defensive football and still got sacked. Doesn't make sense.

Meh we'll see what happens but who would they get in to replace him? Who'd want to step in to the club in it's current position? They'd be hard pressed to convince a top manager who is currently working to leave their team and join Liverpool with potentially nothing to play for in the next 8 months

Don't think they need to spend money - he has had money at Liverpool and apart from a few players (Torres / Benny) he hasn't done anything with it. I could see the problem a while back when we bought in Keane (I don't know if Benitez had anything to do with that - as soon as he was not performing he was out) I probably think he was bought in by someone else.

But now he supposedly has control over transfers, training, youth squads, etc. and yet we're still buying useless crap like Kraggywtfios.

Well if we did get new owners in with bigger pockets you'd be suprised who would leave if the price is right.

I didnt say that he did need to spend money at Liverpool. I merely pointed out some reasons why the RM board might think he can do a job for RM.

He has had enough over the years to get us a squad that has depth 67 players bought most sold on, Was imo mistake letting Keane go he did well for us when he played but wasnt given enough time.

But regarding him going cant see it even as a surporter the owners would likely to go first then it may happen but i cant also see the arabs buying in due to the current owners want more than he would willing pay it seems

Very happy Arsenal have planned against being in such a situation, I don't envy L'pool supporters at all. You shouldn't be relying on new owners to solve the situation

If it was me, I would still rather be at RM and get hammered by the spanish media for producing a boring team, than deal with the undoubted english media frenzy that I would suffer for the next 7 months. If Liverpools season continues as it is, the media are going to be all over Rafa non-stop all season, just look at this forum already as a very small indicator.

That result sums up Rafa, his team, and his supporters up to a tee.

How does that sum up Man United who they mullered 2-0

Liverpool are in mid table team form, the fringe players are gash, getting rid of Rafa will do nothing, the half of the squad is mediocre.

As my post further above pointed out..

I didnt say that he hadnt had enough funds...and certainly nothing in the section you have quoted suggests that.

I merely pointed out..as per the part that you quoted (which I believe is factually correct, unless you think that Liverpool have more money than RM? Which is the part you quoted)...some reasons why RM might think he can do a job for them in Spain.

First sensible comment in this thread for a while.

Yes, we've had a shocking start to the season but lets just wait and see where we are at the end of the season. If we don't qualify for the CL and/or 10+ points off the lead then he deserves to go. Saying that, even if don't qualify for the CL, the chances are he won't be sacked because the owners can't afford to sack him.

As for todays game; 11 first team players out injured (most of which would have played had they been fit), not to mention Torres unfit and who knows how many others affected by this virus but played. First half we done ok without really creating a great deal, their goal came completely against the run of play. Complete stupidity from Kuyt for their 2nd (slid in to keep the ball going out for a throw to us and ended up send the Fulham lb clear down our right resulting in the goal). Degen's red card was a joke, it's just a typical sliding tackle, a booking and nothing more. Carra's red we'll have to see again; Zamora was possibly offside and looked like he was holding Carra too (depends who pulled who first).

All in all, a **** day.
