Weekend Football Thread. *spoilers* 11-14

It is amazing how fans can say anything to the players and it be a bit of banter...

However if the players give any chat back its totally uncalled for and they are not being professional...

Load of rubbish.

If I was a player I'd get banned every week

I have to add something though as it's been bothering me.

All game Adebayor was jeered, booed, and taunted by the Arsenal fans.

And when he scores and decides to give some back, all of a sudden it becomes a problem. Nobody heard of tasting their own medicine?

I don't condone what Adebayor did because he should have known what would come of it. But at the same time, i'm surprised Arsenal aren't in trouble for not controlling their fans - after all, if it weren't for their actions, he wouldn't have gone down that end of the pitch to celebrate?

I'm sure Arsenal are in trouble, match report says a steward was hurt during that incident and I think Arsenal will get a charge laid against them for this.
And to be honest, I think the fans were awful, yes Adebayor's an idiot for what he did and no Arsenal fan likes him, but throwing things on the pitch and the way they were behaving was shameful.

so far gone? It's a split second there, especially as that's slowed down. I'm not saying it was or wasn't intentional but is no way clear cut.

Maybe when he first went in, towards Fab, but you can see Ade's head turn to follow the ball, he knows it's gone, then he stamps down, looks like the stamp is on purpose after he's watched the ball go.

For the record, the Arsenal fans throwing stuff is out of order, but Ade did run the entire field to do it which is sort of annoying, still, I'm not too bothered about the celebration, the stamps were bad though

I seem to recall United supporters surging forward at Charlton before they got relegated and a steward there had his leg broken in the melee. Bit more serious than a bump on the head from an 'unidentified flying object'. Their fans oddly never faced any kind of sanction for their behaviour though. Strange that ;)

Get a life and take you're trolling elsewhere.

I totally get where you are coming from - but "sticks and stones will break my bones, but names will never hurt me" comes to mind a little

Yes its wrong some of the swearing and name calling (if its racist then its totally uncalled for and should be iradicated by banning individual supporters) - but in a way thats one of the reasons why footballers are payed so much , it also doesnt help that Ade is putting a lot more effort into this season with City than he did in his last year / two years at Arsenal.

If it had been at the same end - then he should possibly get away with it, but running the full length of the field to do that, just a little iffy imo lol

Mind you compared to the lunge /gouge it was nothing - he needs to have the book thrown at him for that (and VP should get something for the inital tackle imo although far from horrific, it wasnt a particularly good one either)

Adeba-yor my hero!

well he did what most fans wanted to do for some time, i.e really get in the arsenal fans faces and take out a chunk of RVP too.

i was impressed with his stamina, running 70 + yards at full tilt.. i was waiting for him to slow down, but the closer he got the faster he went! amazing!

I think he never got the chance to celebrate in front of the Arsenal Fans*, better late than never in his mind. ;)

When I saw the rake on RVPs face in real time I thought RVP Yellow, Abe "Off". I think the rake saved RVP from a card (on a bad day it could have been a Red). In Slow motion I was like "WTF!!!"

Abe's behavior in the game was utterly deplorable, poor sportsmanship, assault and inciting a riot, where a steward ended up in hospital** I think 2-3 games for the celebration, and 4-6 for the rake + a yellow for the many other dubious challenges.

I think the book has to be thrown at him well and truely. If he had only committed one of the above offenses then you'd probably say no more than a 2 match ban. But just by the shear number of incidents carried out by this player, you can see there was malicious intent and that needs to be punished.

New campaign slogan
Lets stamp stamping out of football

*considering the amount of goals he missed
** Arsenal and their fans have to accept partial responsibility and punishment for their behavior.

i think most fans would act the same if the same situation happened at another club , you can hardly blame arsenal fans also adebayor has just gone and burnt himself out after running the length of the pitch so dont expect to get much more from him this season:p

Haha just made me laugh reading SSN this morning...Hughes saying that there was nothing malicious about Adebayors actions on Sat...seriously he must be bloody blind to not have seen the intent...but fair enough hes defending his player...which most managers if not all would do...wonder if hes going to get slated as much as Wenger does on here when he defends his players:rolleyes:

If Hughes has seen the replays...which im sure he has and still has the audacity to say it wasnt intentional then i reckon he should be banned as well:p:D...either that or get the hell down to specsavers lol.

If Hughes came out and said that he thought Adebayor did it deliberately, his punishment would be even worse. I'm hoping the F.A. throws the book at him. MOTD2 last night highlighted how much Adebayor was trying to wind up Arsenal and their fans. This could have all been avoided if we had good referees in the league.

Clattenburg watched Adebayor walking around Arsenal's half before kick off, was right there when he stomped on Fabregas's foot in the first half that should have been the first yellow card of the game. Instead he books Lescott seconds later for nothing other than getting in the way of Denilson. He was metres away from Adebayor stamping his right foot down on Van Persie's face which should have been a straight red card. If he had done this, Man City would have been down to 10 men when the score was still 1-1. Instead Abebayor goes unpunished. City go on to score 2 goals in the space of five minutes resulting in Adebayor running the full length of the pitch to taunt the Arsenal fans in the away section when he gets his only card of the game, a yellow for his celebration.

He bought Lescott for £24m. I think he needs to get to specsaves anyway.

Adebayor is obviously a complete tool.

No wonder Arsenal seem to be better without him.

After seeing all the incidents he should be banned for a few games for going for van persies face.

His celebration was probably just against all the stick he would have been getting and if fans can't take a bit of banter then they shouldn't hurl abuse.

According to SSN now...it looks like he will get banned for at least 3 matches...which i think is good enough...silly tit that he is.

Hes claiming that hes upset with the way Arsenal fans treated him over the past few seasons...hmmm well heres some advice Adebayor...if you had put your heart and soul into every game then you wouldnt have been treated badly...fans including me will slate players for their performance but i will also applaud if a player if he gives his best...but as i saw it Adebayor was a major liability for us...his attitude sucked and that also showed on the field with his subpar performances for us...Wenger has said he doesnt regret letting him go...just wish he would have sold him to AC Milan when they were interested in him.

Hopefully this will teach him a very important lesson in life...that stop being an utter tit and learn to let things go.

Looking forward to seeing him play at the Emirates when Man City come to play Arsenal later in the yr...if he thinks hes been treated badly then hes in for a surprise come that game:p.

He is just pathetic.

We loved him when he had his 30 goal season, he gave it his all and got the goals for us, every game we sang his name! After the summer where his head got turned by AC Milan and Barca (then got rewarded with a contract to double his wages) he started the season badly and didn't put half as much effort in, us fans reacted to this and promptly booed him. If he'd put some effort in he would have won us over.

Eboue came back stronger after being booed off as he worked hard in subsequent games, appreciated. Toure moved on to Man City and thanked us fans for the support over the years. This showed when he got a standing ovation at the City game by Arsenal fans, and will no doubt get the same at the Emirates! He's gone to City and kept his mouth shut.

Adebayor on the other hand is constantly in the press bad mouthing the fans for his booing which he brought on himself. Even before the game he said we made his life a nightmare and critisied the fans, what did he expect at the city game?

I don't even think that it should be an issue the way he celebrated. The stick he got from the crowd he should be entitled to give a bit back. The problem is however that football fans are idiots that would be prepared to react badly to the slightest thing against them, despite all that they dish out, which unfortunately means you cannot go doing things like that. People will get hurt if it is allowed to happen.

As much as its a victory for the idiot football fan, it has to be clamped down on.
