Weekend Football Thread. *spoilers* 22nd-24th

Back from my round the world trip to watch my Sheffield Wednesday destroy an embarrassingly bad Scunny.

I normal go to the games in a car, but this time was forced to take a mixture of public transport, which turned out to be great fun, meeting some real characters :D less about that anyway.

Wednesday were brilliant first half, completely one way traffic and the defense that Scunny put up was nothing short of shambolic. Awful defending that would embarrass a pub side. Second half was much more even, Scunny were better (couldn't of gotten worse) and put Wednesday under some pressure, Wednesday played much more relaxed in the second half, scored one. The score line could very easily of been 8/9/10 to Wednesday and that wouldn't of flattered them.

Horrific injury to a Scunny defender, he tried to kiss the post. Didn't look nice, our defender went down injured as well, Woody was okay to recover and carry on, unfortunately the game was stopped for 6/7 minutes with paramedics and the physio's / doctors helped the Scunny player who was then carried away ( presume to hospital ) he looked **** and in a right state. Lots of breathing equipment ect ect

Saw some extended highlights :) after a great tip home :p

United looked a lot better, thought it was a enjoyable game. All the United players played well, Berba looked good, as did Rooney. Nev's looked a little off pace, but he's old and isn't really first choice.

RE: Vidic was lucky, he clearly hit Roddy, Roddy's reaction was bad, but understandable. Webb did very well not to just send him off, he calmed the situation down well imo. Roddy clearly pulled out of the Foster "lunge" and Foster didn't make anything of it. Vidic, as many defenders do, got annoyed at the way Roddy went in (which he was entitled to imo) simples. That then lead to the raised hand by Vidic.
Just lucky that the ref didn't see it, Don't think he saw it and thought "it's United, can't send a player off".

Good win for Arsenal, How bitter was the Pompy manager ? :p
Arsenal look in good form, great flowing football going forward, Eboue and Eddy worked hard for Diaby's goals as rightly pointed out. Diaby was given two golden chances and took them.

Good win for Leicester and The Blunts (reading are a decent side).

@ Rotty ! Bramble has looked a different player since joining Wigan :p I think there is something going on ! ? does he have a twin ?

I thought BBC said that Wigan have never taken a point from Manchester United, bit shocked at that. Thought Wigan were better then that.

Been getting close, got close last year twice but its one of those things, nice to see Vidic being the dirty baltic **** he is, just getting Hugo back from last season when he had him in his back pocket.

Vidic isnt a baltic (thats in the northeastern coastal area of europe, Vidic is serbian, which is in the southeastern coastal area of europe) :)

He is dirty though :D

Meh, I've got nothing against dirty or cynical defending, I'm all for giving away a yellow card for a professional foul if it saves your side a goal. That said there's no need for afters, any Vidic had no reason to get involved.

Vidic hardly touches him, it was only a little slap and the secret sniper was out in force from it.

Im sure he is jus trying to get rodallega off his shirt though?

Either way, glad Vidic is back, looked positively solid yesterday.

He was always good, he was a 45min player though, he was highly rated ages ago back in his ipswich(I think it was Ipswich?) days. At Newcastle he was great for about 50mins, then turd for the rest. IT was always fairly simple, fat lazy idiot who no one actually trained properly. Newcastle while he was there had a very good 1st half record with one of the fewest conceded in the league, while they had the worst 2nd half record in the league.

All he ever needed was real fitness, the ability to play footie for 90mins without getting tired, without over tiredness his concentration is way better and he doesn't make most of the mistakes he used to make.

Was quite pleased with the goals yesterday, 3 of them were pretty classy, first with a huge amount of build up and the second with a quick counter. RvP was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet, hope he does soon! From where i was in the stadium it looked nailed on that Gallas had tripped the Pompey striker as the last man, was amazed no foul was given but seeing it again on MOTD he just kicks the back of his own leg. Another sloppy goal conceded though, 2 mistakes really, bad marking and Almunia not coming to claim.

As for Diaby not doing anything for those goals, honestly, i've seen some crap from DM before but that really is beyond the normal levels. Yes Eboue played in a nice cross but what about Cesc's superb ball to set him free down the wing with all the time in the world and then Diaby making up all that ground and being as composed as he was. His first was a cracking finish too. I'd put money on Eboue to miss both those "tap ins".

Arshavin looked well off the boil, wasnt making many runs and seemed quite uninterested, i'd heard he had a late fitness test so maybe he's a little injured? Bendtner really was awful when he came on too which is a shame, just trying too hard and wouldnt pass the ball.

haha Vidic only gave him a little brush, wasnt as if he punched him full in the face. Rodallega went down as if he'd been shot. According to some of the reactions on here he was shot! haha!!

Personally I didnt think Eboues cross was very good, it was slow and slightly behind Diaby. Diaby played well and finished his goals well.

I still think DM is Eboues manager as he cant do wrong but Diaby gets two goals and he doesnt play well. I have never met someone so arrogant that he disregards all other opinions and still bad mouths the players that are doing well.

Can you just sing a different tune for a bit DM and bad mouth another tean for a bit. Surprised he hasnt had a pop at Wenger yet
