What are we more likely to see first:

a) Hargreaves playing for Man United.
b) Rosicky playing for Arsenal.
c) Hell freezing over.

Give over. You make it sound like United's players are all dynamic total football types who could play any position required, and the others you listed are 2-dimensional and immobile.

Roy Keane played almost the exact same role for you as Palacios does for Tottenham.

Merely pointing out the fact that if we want them from Spurs we normally get them.

Name the last Spurs player we wanted to buy that we didn't get because he wanted to stay at Spurs?

Well we've done pretty well since he has gone haven't we :rolleyes:

Fletcher has been quality in the last 8 months and this season he will be outstanding. I think he is in the box to box mode of Keane (obviously not in that class) but when he plays we do not need a DM who simply sits there.

Why do you have to take everything to heart? Ask most people on here if they think Modric would prefer Man U to Spurs and I think only you would say no.

I take it we can't post anything in this forum unless it actually happens then? No speculation? Nothing? Gonna be a nightmare trying to keep the transfer rumours thread without any speculation.

That's exactly what he does do, Fletcher is best when he sits in front of the back 4 breaking up play, ask Arsenal and most of the CL teams we beat last year. When it goes pear shaped for Fletcher is when he moves up the pitch and thinks he can ping it about, which he can't.

And yes we do need a DM that sits there, enlighten me as to what we lacked in the CL final, when we come up against a midfield like that we get overrun.

Carrick can't tackle and neither can Scholes, Giggsy has a go but come on :/

Sore subject but I remember Man Utd coming in with a big bid for Sol Campbell. I also remember Gazza turning you down to come to WHL.

Luka Modric has moved to distance himself from speculation suggesting he is a target for Manchester United.

Reports had suggested that Red Devils chief Sir Alex Ferguson was weighing up the merits of a move for Tottenham's diminutive playmaker.

However, the Croatia international claims he has no knowledge of any such interest and insists he is happy to remain at White Hart Lane for the foreseeable future.

"I don't know anything about the Manchester United link," Modric told Sportske Novosti.

"I read about it in the newspapers, and one paper even published quotes from me saying I was happy to be on Sir Alex Ferguson's radar.

"But the truth is that I didn't say anything to anybody about this. They were not my words.

"I feel great at Tottenham and I have given no thought to moving to a different club. My contract runs until 2013 and I am just thinking about staying.

"I think the main thing is that the team has stayed together over the summer. Now we are a year stronger and also coach Redknapp has made us into a real team.

"The big four are still way ahead of the others, and Manchester City are now a real threat as well.

"But we also have big ambitions. We don't want to talk about fighting for the top four, but our aim is to be in the top six at the end of the season. I think we are good enough to do that."

Carrick breaks up play pretty well, I think there was a stat knocking around that he makes the most interceptions in the League 2007 season though. Just because he does not slide does not mean he can not tackle.

However I'm not a huge fan of Carrick, he has bags of talent but he will never grab games from the scruff of the neck ala Keane. I'd say more importantly is a replacement for Scholes, as currently Anderson seems to have gone backwards.

Never heard the one about Campbell :confused:

Gazza I'll give you but wasn't it because they bought his Ma and PA a house?

I also said you would have to go a fair way back, what we talking 89/90?

He also stated later that he regretted not going to MU and that he phoned Fergie to try and join when he was at Lazio. ;)
 
The Campbell one was pretty well known and also fuel to the fire when he slithered off to the gooners. We could have had a reported £20m in the bank for him to help strengthen the squad.... but he sat out his contract instead denying us any fee and lined his fat wallet.

Agreed Gazza made a mistake. My comparison is from when we were last on a level playing field before the CL made things so unbalanced.
