Weekend Football Thread. *spoilers* 29-31

quoted for the truth, of course money has nothing to do with refereeing

Playing a tune just for you

Today's game has highlighted yet again how lacklustre our midfielders can be. I'm over the moon we got 3 points, I thought we'd be lucky to get 1 considering the first half.

Agreed Linoge. Far too often last year and this year have I heard commentators say United have been dominated in midfield in key games

We've been lacking a player to take the game by the scruff of the neck for a while. When things go wrong we don't have someone getting angry at the other players or leading them. Our midfield are a bunch of mutes. :p

lol! "barcelona like"?
Good stuff..
I love how Sky are shoving this Arsenal master class down our throats.
The game was fairly even, I don't think either team played very well.
Certainly the shots/possession stats don't support their view that Arsenal totally out played us.

I wouldn't say it was even, Man U only looked comfortable in the last 15 mins or so. Before that they looked like the away team.

Arsenal were unlucky, inept refereeing and a rush of blood to the head from Diaby is the difference between United winning 2-1 to them winning 2-1, as Fletcher wiped Arseshaving out and then went on to touch the ball for the penalty incident.

United were second best all over the park as they have been against everyone with a bit about them for the year or so.

:p I do agree with you.

United were poor and very lucky today. should have started with two up front but SAF bottled it.

Fletcher was very good though, monster display making up for Carrick.

Rooney was looking for it, but it was still a pen.

Almunia's fault really, watching the game I was waiting and waiting for Gallas to slide for it, then Almunia went for it too late.

Gotta love the bitterness from the Arsenal fans. You're a credit to your team and your manager.

As for the match, I don't know how on Earth we walked away from that with three points. Defence was shaky, Foster unreliable. Midfield anonymous. Only Rooney really gave his all and was present for most of the match.

I would have to say that Arsenal lost that match for themselves. Almunia had a total brain freeze and gifted the first goal, and Diaby added the second.

Regarding penalties, well, yes Arsenal should have had a penalty, but they scored right after so I don't really see how you can complain. I'd take the goal over a penalty that could have been missed. And how you can argue that Rooney's wasn't, well, is quite simply beyond me. About as stonewall a penalty as i've seen in the last ten years. He might have been looking for it but Almunia took him out very cleanly.

That is all.
