Weekend Football Thread. *spoilers* 29-31

Note the way Almunia's arms were right out whereas Boruc's were withdrawn.

Hence allowing Rooney to 'ride' the challenge and Eduardo 'diving'

It's my opinion that there's a difference between diving and looking for a foul.

Going down completely unassisted is diving. Rooney was on his way down, yes, but that still doesn't mean that Almunia taking out what contact he did have with the ground was acceptable.

Otherwise it can only be a foul if the player is on two feet, stood in an upright stable position. And that's a pretty slippery slope.

I was agreeing with you :p

You pretty much said the same thing as I did :D

Keepers need to learn to stay on their line/hold back for a ball like that, 2 games 2 pointless rushes of blood to the head, 2 penalties converted.

The ball always goes out for a goal kick but a penalty is awarded, no way could Rooney catch that ball.

Bit gutted by the result, thought we could have got a win today. Draw would have been a fair result all things considering so the loss is quite annoying.

Can't post without mentioning the penalty, Rooney had dropped before Almunia got anywhere near him. Watch Almunia's arms, they don't get kicked until both of Rooneys legs hit them at the same time, you don't run like that. Blatant looking for a pen and not so far from a certain decision earlier in the week. Also nice to see RvP get a yellow for a mirror image of the tackle Fletcher did in his own area.

Dont normally live on here but thought id have a pop in and see what you guys thought of the Man U Arsenal match. So far all i see is some moaning about Rooney doing exactly what every other striker does in the league, if Liverpool (and others) can get a pen last year just down to intent then this is a stone wall penalty.
I know its more fun to bitch and moan about things not going which ever way you want but in the end arsenal gave away(?) two stupid goals and they only have themselves to blame not rooney, not the ref, not FA some bias towards Utd .
Although the result didnt go the gunners way, if they was my team i'd go away a bit downhearted with the result , but happy that they outplayed the champions at their ground.

Lampard, Gerrard and Torres.

Rooney, the 3 i quoted i was thinking of in the first place, especialy torres, Van persie and fabregas are more important to arsenal than Arshavin imo, or i think in the near future that will become clear.

i dont know, maybe its just me, i probably havnt seen what hes capable of, i do watch every match of the day and every soccer am, and i gotta say his names never even come to mind.

Who is then? One of your beloved Man U players? Arshavin is the only player to make an impact on the Premiership since Ronaldo and now he has left.

Since ronaldo ? its been 3 games sherlock, rooneys getting back into the picture now

But Arsha best player in the premo, no way, torres is much better imo, and thats coming from a united fan, i mist out drogba too, im not going to say rooney because that goes without saying ;)
