Weekend Football Thread. *spoilers* 3-5

Fix!!! An ex-United player getting a pointless red card and a United players brother scoring a last minute own goal!

Cry me a river :p

Completely did not deserve anything from the game. Berbatov was the only player who wanted anything from the game. O'**** Liability, Foster Liability, Wellbeck Liability, Rooney Carp, Nani Carp

Gah, it does get tiring, frankly he could have picked up the ball and walked off 10 yards before handing it and NOT got a yellow card, instead he didn't give it back to Valencia, 10 yards out of position and kicked it pretty much towards where it should be taken, never in a million years a second yellow :(

Sunderland did deserve the win, mostly equal second half with both teams having periods of better play, but the first half was so ridiculously Sunderland dominated and they had several late chances and still would have been a threat had they not been down to 11.

Though Richardson is the kind of player I personally wouldn't have kept on with a yellow so long as he's a mouthy little git. Saying that his first yellow for the tamest body check ever, off the ball with no consequences would almost never be given either.

Good game to watch though, shame about the outcome.

Shockingly bad :o
Rooney was as bad as ive ever seen him, im not sure he found a red shirt once.
Scholes continues to be my least favourite player. Hes a dirty little so and so.
Foster..promised so much but I think that will prove one too many for him and he can have no complaints.
Sunderland played really well tbf but I was very annoyed Carrick didn't come on earlier.
We needed someone to actually help us keep the ball but also protect the defence against the counter and allow Fletcher to push up.
That is Carrick all over. Not Anderson, who even on his good days gives the ball away a lot.
Only really Evra pleased me today. He truly is a terrific little player.

Is it just me or has the standard of the PL really tanked? Man U are awful all over the pitch, Liverpool can't defend, Chelsea have been relavitely poor for 3 years, and Arsenal lack bite in midfield!

Gutted with the result, I think it's a little tradgic we never got the 3 points but it's just one of those things. Kinda do and don't blame Richardson, and don't blame Ferdinand. Richardson's first yellow was a bit harsh. Yes it was a body check but personally I don't think he mean't it. Second yellow was also harsh but it's a silly thing to kick the ball away like that. You can see Valencia go to collect the ball and Richardson quickly kicks it - if Valencia wasn't there then he wouldn't have got a yellow and I think he's gotten it purely for on purposely trying to stop Man Utd getting the ball even if he kicked it back in the free kick spot direction.

Ferdinand was just unlucky, 90% of defenders would have went for that with no knowledge of if someone was behind you, it's just came in a bit quick and he's cliped it rather than clearing. Man Utd looked really poor in the first half. Their second half performance was better and I think Sunderland stood up well.

I am gutted, but I predicted 3-0 to Man Utd before that game and I wasn't expecting to get anything out of it - so a point is welcome, but I'd rather have got the point from Man Utd getting an earlier clean goal for the equalisier and not a cheap deflection in the 92nd minute.

So, its taken a match like this for people to agree with what I was saying most of the summer and the beginning of the season?
Welbeck, Foster, O'shea, Evans, and Scholes should all either be shipped out or retire.
Ferguson should have spent the Ronaldo money on any combination of - Goal keeper, center half, defensive midfielder, decent striker , left winger.
The squad isnt strong enough to simply chop out 4 and 5 players a game anymore, it wasnt last season, and after selling the best player in the world and not bringing anyone of any real quality in, it certainly isnt now.

I can't believe how everyone is saying Nani was bad/should be shot when he was far better than Welbeck, Fletcher and Scholes  not to mention how poor Rooney was.

In the end Fergie lost us that

1. Starting Welbeck over Valencia, Anderson, Tosic and Giggs
2. Dropping Giggs completely
3. Rotating our central midfield AGAIN
4. Not having a striker on the bench, is he a moron? What's wrong with Macheda

Oh and I feel inclined to add - as bad a performance as that was from MU, the referees was worst.
The general standard for this league is just poor, highlighted by the fact that most of them (today included) seem to be really over weight. How can we expect them to keep up when they can't even be that fit? :s

We have some of the worst referees in the world, considering we are supposed to be one of the top leagues in the world, the standard of refereeing is crap.
You can watch any match, and they will get less than 50% of the decisions right, and their consistency is all over the place.

Agreed refs are all over lately, that Berbatov one was shockingly bad, he tripped over on his own when Ferdninad was nowhere near him, he then jumped on the ball with both hands picking it up for an assumed free kick, it should have been handball.

That’s a bit unfair. Evans is still young and in a more settled defence +GK unit he is fine, hes proven himself to be decent cover.
O'Shea is a great squad player.
But I agree - he is no first teamer. I have no idea where Wes has gone to but SAF seems pretty happy with O'Shea there atm..
I also agree that in general our squad needs work but lets not go overboard.
Every team has bad days and you don't win what we have recently with a bunch of no hopers. Of course losing Ronaldo is a blow but it's still a decent squad, as good as any in the leagues except Chelsea.
And I can understand SAF not thinking it was the right time to buy.
If players are not available for the right money, he has to consider the bigger picture and wait.
He would have wanted to wait and see with a lot of our players too this season.
It's tough bringing in players when theres so many question marks over the ones you have.
For example, he can be forgiven for giving Nani, Hargreves, Foster, Anderson and Berbatov this season to prove themselves.
But as it stands right now, he should pencil in the exits of Scholes, Neville, PIG/Foster and Nani and look to bring some quality in

Neville and Scholes never look like having the level of consistency any more, I'm always expecting a mistake from one of them. I can't understand why Wes isn't first choice right back, until Rafael is more experience he should be our first choice really. Hopefully Obertan will give us another option on the wing and he really should try Tosic, I know a few people here have completely dismissed him after a few games but he IS a left footed winger and an international, clearly a better solution than a right footed striker to everyone bar Fergie. Our preferred central pairing should be Fletcher and Anderson going by recent performances (although Carrick looked a lot better on Wednesday) and Rooney needs to buck up, he's had a great start to the season but the last two matches he's just given the ball away repeatedly.

I dont understand why we dont go back to playing 4-3-3.
We've tried 4-4-2, and the players we have are not strong enough to play it.
Put 3 central midfielders in, and a front 3 of Rooney plus any of the others.
And dump O'shea, because it is getting to the point were he cant even kick the ball in a straight line, the amount of times he tries to play it down the line and it flies out is embarrassing.

Christ that was painful, watching the rugby cheering for nobody and watching United in the same pub, 1 game won/1 drawn in injury time, people say that is the form of champions, I call it a shocking return for 76k fans, played Sunderland, Bruch can motivate players
