Weekend Football Thread. *spoilers* 3-5

Paul Hart just sounds so depressing :(

Good win for them today though, they've played fairly well whenever I've seen them but haven't been getting results.

I didn't agree with the line up from Fergie, but he's not going to come out and say he got it wrong, or that the players weren't good enough :o

To be honest, Wiley does look chubby and unfit :p

Shocking result, I was getting so frustrated watching it. I've never seen United pass to badly, everyone was awful really.

Rooney didnt find a man in the first half, and well Foster may have made his final apperance in a United shirt, he just does not have the mental steel to play for such a club.

I hate when people say that "he's a good shot stopper" about any keeper.

Look, goal keepers have to be good shot stoppers, it's the basics of playing in goal.

Same with the comment "he has a good engine" ... seriously? what? he's a professional sodding athlete, all he does is play football! of course he should be able to run and look lively for the majority of the game.

/rant.

Wouldn't say the size of the club has anything to do with it. He's just a very poor keeper compared to most in the Premiership and certainly not the next great hope for England as many United supporters had him down as being while at Watford.

I thought Foster has looked okay in a couple of games this season, but I agree he's going to have to really pull something out of the hat to warrant a place in the United squad next season, let alone been considered for England.

He's not good enough for Manchester United at current, I'd rather see the Pole in goal to be honest.

His decision making is awful and he makes far too many stupid mistakes to ever be considered a top keeper. Only the workload at Watford ever made him look any good and now he doesn't have that luxury to overshadow his flaws he's been found out.

He also, seems unable to talk and direct his back four, and often looks very nervous when he's playing. That might be something to do with the back four he's playing with and the weight of expectation.

I'd also question his concentration. The very best teams might limit their opposition to only half a dozen shots on goal a game so you need a keeper that can switch it on at the drop of a hat. Foster seems to lack that ability. Perhaps he's just the Titus Bramble of the goal keeping world?

I don't think he's the Bramble of the goal keeping world, would be a bit insulting to Bramble.

I like Foster, but he's not looking like been the long term replacement for Sar De Vander, and United already have a good back up (PIG). Maybe, Fergie might keep this guy as back up and bring in a top quality Keeper.

I'm not sure whether it's lack of ability or the pressure getting to him. Before this season he's looked just fine. It could just be a confidence issue with a couple of mistakes and the media all talking about it.

I can't believe all the moaning about Man Utd (Atpbx).. Yeah it was a bad game/very bad game, but what position are you in? Oh yes, that's 1st.

You are obviously doing something right in the matches...

So? Poor performances should just be excused then? In the reverse then, should Pompey not bother celebrating a win because they're still bottom?

Foster will be good again but probably for a team whose keepers see a lot of the ball, ala Watford. Last year I really thought he'd make the step up (and it wasn't just United fans who believed this) but currently he looks dreadful.

Ahh well SAF will be back again hunting keepers in January, I guess we will look abroad but i'd take a punt at Juri at Bolton perhaps.
