** Weekend Football Thread ** *spoilers*

Their commentary team was suggesting at the time of the incident that Gomez was going to be getting a red card

They only mentioned the possibility of a red card after the pen had been given. They straight away said that Gomes got the ball, prior to seeing the replays.

Eventful evening.

Have to say though, I completely missed the third goal, as the ***** 2 rows in front decided to kick off about the guy behind him not standing up and cheering.

He'll be a bit miffed tonight though, he missed 3 goals, and his girlfriend didn't look best pleased at being thrown out :D

Dear oh dear.

Liverpool game was just a showcase of very poor refereeing.

I don't think the free kick was a free kick, for Masch ?

Either way, Phil Brown has to agree that them not getting the free kick wouldn't of done anything to help Hull ... not lose ? lol

Folan... tut tut, was a bit like Pepe but not quite as bad.

Not just that, but there were 2 fouls in the build up to the second Liverpool goal, as well as the hand (although that would have been harsh).

Also, as for the sending off - it was still a penalty for obstruction. Folan deserved to go, but the foul had already been committed.

2 fouls in the build up of the 2nd goal?

And it wasn't a penalty either. Every defender in the league puts himself inbetween the keeper and attacker to shield the ball back.

Yeah but you need to make a distinction between shielding the ball and obstruction.

Skrtel didn't have the ball in his possession, he was just holding Folan off. That's surely obstruction.

He didn't touch Folan. He put his body inbetween Folan and the ball and Folan practically jumped on his back.

Seeing how the Ref gave a free kick for an identical foul on Geo later in the game.

Yes the foul on Folan was a penalty, probably a card.
Folan, however should have gone, no question.

I couldn't see Hull not loseing, no offence.
Ref wasn't that bad, I've not herd many grumblings from people who watched the game.

I can't discuss this if you're going to deny what actually happened?

It's as clear as day that he obstructed Folan.

Also, having seen it again, i'm not so sure about the penalty for the "foul" on Carrick.

That was a shocking decision though and was only given as he'd just sent a Hull player off.

@ Burned Alive: yea first game on.

Doesn't matter, you hope he didn't give that because Hull had 10 men.

Ref's aren't suposed to try and "balance" things, they're on the pitch to enforce the laws of the game ?

If he was giving a free kick for the foul out side the box, he should be giving a foul for it inside the box.

I plain and simply, don't think the Ref had the balls to give a penalty against Liverpool.

Which is a shame, because a ref should be able to give any decision anywhere.

Considering you also imagined 2 fouls in the build up of our 2nd goal then i think you're right. It's not worth discussing.
