** Weekend Football Thread ** *spoilers*

I have given up on the premiership, what a load of ****, time and time again refs just ruin it for teams, top 4 get everything week in week out.

You can keep your EPL give me the Championship.

99% of you have never seen lower league football and you are missing a treat.

edit because of your ninja edit: I don't disagree that Skrtel has no intention of playing the ball and is just blocking Folan. However this happens time and time again and goes unpunished. If that's a foul/pen they you're going to be giving 2-3 pens per game because it happens all the time. It's not just defenders either, Makelele and Hamann were experts at it.

It was a ninja addition more than a ninja edit, which makes it sound like I was correcting something ;).

I think what made it more of a foul was the distance between the 2 players when Skrtel stopped his forward movements and simply shifted his weight backwards to basically hit the player where as Makelele and Hamann would be a lot closer to the player and do it more gradually, similar to Anderson when he turns someone, it's more subtle. Skrtel simply hit the breaks then backed into the guy with a wallop.

I don't disagree that Makelele was a dirty sod though, but he got away with murder because of his size.

Out of interest Nokkon, where was the foul in the build up to our 2nd? Other than the handball (that you first said was, now say wasn't :p), the only other challenge there was when Kuyt won the ball back (and he did win the ball).

edit: sorry for implying you made a mistake :p :D

Biggest fallacy in football.

You're welcome to it.

I've seen it, I'm not missing a treat at all. The vast majority of the lower leagues are much closer to Sunday League than Premier League in terms of pace, passing, control, shooting and positioning. It's often quite painful.

Sorry i find it hard to discuss football with you when you've proven time and time again that you don't even understand basic rules such as denying a clear goalscoring opportunity and the offside rule.

BTW Nokkon disagreed with you too, genius :p

It seems to me like you struggle to discuss football, period!

It was before the ball got out wide to Benayoun to cross the ball. I remember thinking it was a foul when I watched it live, and also watching the replay on Match of the Day.

If Match of the Day is still on my Sky HD tomorrow then I'll tell you exactly when.

As a side note, why has no one made comment of Kuyt making the same gesture that Benitez made and got into bother for? At least Benitez had a good excuse for it with his explanation... what's Kuyt's excuse? Just seems a little class-less.

Yawn, you keep telling yourself that.

I mean supporting a team not watching a team in the lower league, as I said most people hear wouldn't know whats its like.

It was the Kuyt challenge. IINM there was no replay however you could clearly see the change in direction of the ball (and the way it went from at the defenders feet to 10 yards across to Benayoun ;)) that he won it.

As for the Kuyt celebration, i thought it was great. Fat Sam and Whiskey Nose clearly set that up knowing full well that Rafa's reaction had nothing to do with Fat Sam and Kuyt's just having a laugh about it all. It's good to see footballers being having a laugh rather than being afraid to say/do anything just in case it ends up in the papers.

I've been to a Championship game, was pretty dire. Birmingham vs Stoke a few years back, 11.30am kick off, -4C, had to leave home at 6 to get there in time, freezing my arse off in a stadium amongst supporters of my team's arch enemies. NEVER again :D

Well that's it. I've been crushed by the superior power of reasoning.

I'm just going to have to give the BBC a call and tell them to stop fabricating fouls that didn't happen.

My apologies to you Baz, clearly you were always right, how did I ever doubt your all-seeing wisdom?

Please accept my humblest apologies.

Ahhh bless.

Although i am always right, all i did was give my opinion. If you can't accept it and need to resort to childish replies then fair enough. I couldn't care less.

Apology accepted and btw the bbc pundits didn't say there was a foul by Skrtel nor did they mention a foul in the build up to our 2nd so no need to write to them :p

But it's quite clear from watching?

No matter, they're clearly wrong.

I've included how upset you are about the incident. Are you considering legal action? I can include that if you like.

:D

Im not upset. No foul was given in either incident, even if it was deserved or not :D

Maybe you should right to the FA too complaining about the emotional damage you've got from the decisions.

But this is pretty serious. I mean how can the FA review cases with video evidence if parts are wrong?

It needs to be sorted. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Also, i'd be grateful in future if you could keep us all updated on what actually happens in matches, as clearly TV can't be trusted.

Thanks Baz. :)

Not a problem. But maybe you should learn the offside rule (and the rest of them) before you start taking things up with the FA. Don't want to end up sounding stupid, do you?

I sported my Boca Juniors shirt out tonight in honour of Carlitos Teveth, he changed the game with Rooney today.
