** Weekend Football Thread ** *spoilers*

Is Barton just the biggest tool alive??..that was a pretty brash challenge, not the worst ive seen but still what an utter idiot he is. Nice to see him get sent off yet again:p. If he isnt lunging in with 2 feet hes trying to create problems on and off the field ie in house fighting from his Man city days and earlier this season he went for Nasri of Arsenal...pathetic idiot that he is. About time he was banned from football permanently...hes not that great a player imo.

Glad hes been banned for the rest of the season...someone needs to knock 7 shades of crap out of him.

I'll expect to see you chirping up at 10pm once we've failed to win.

I want Hull to win purely for the 6 point gap it will give them to Newcastle. I can't see Newcastle going down now because Sunderland won't get another point this season from the games they have left.

Which is why I was hoping they would pick something up against Everton.

It looks like Villa have a huge say in whose going down.

I think it's going to be Middlesbrough and Sunderland. I can see newcastle getting 4 points from the games they have left while i can't see Sunderland getting any, and 2 points at best for brough and the same for hull.

Cambridge United - Play-Off final (Spoilers)

Yer, I know this doesn't get the same kind of exposure as the Premier League.
The Blue Square Premier is usually just a footnote and then quite often totally missed out.

Anyway, earlier today Cambridge overcame a 1-3 first leg loss to win 3-0 after extra time in the second leg.
That sends us back off to Wembley for the second season running in an attempt to bring back league football to our fair city.

Last year we just didn't turn up and Exeter went on to win promotion.
This year, hopefully Cambridge will realise that they have only got half the job done by getting to Wembley and now they have to play their hearts out for 90 minutes to win it.
Unfortunately I was unable to go last year (I was in hospital at the time), so the last time I saw Cambridge in a play-off final, Dion Dublin won it for us!

Anyway, just wanted to post something.
There is a million miles between the likes of MUFC, Chelsea, Liverpool and the "grass roots" of English football.
A 3-0 victory over Stevenage and a final Vs Torquay is "our" Champions League final run-in :)

Out of interest, why are you desperate to see Newcastle go down?

It would be funny to see such a big club go down ;)

I actually want Newcastle to stay up. There's not enough lesser sides that are willing to play football vs the top 4 as it is. The last thing we need is 1 less.

Gotta say, loads of overreaction over Bartons tackle. After seeing it, it didn't look all that bad. Just your average lazy ass, what the hell, mistimed challenge which of course deserved a red but all this abuse and getting fined two weeks wages is a bit out of line.

Why, why, WHY (delilah) do we invite so much pressure in the last 10-15mins? It's horrible to watch, and the crowd made themselves known towards the end because that was unbearable. When their last corner came in I put my jumper over my face because I was expecting a goal!

Anyway, Azza can go back hiding under his rock until Everton win again now. Get back down to 6th ya swines :D

So true, it was horrible to watch the latter stages of the game. It's like we fall apart, complete opposite to the beginning of the season where we would nick results at the dead. :( Hope for 5th and bring on next season.

Because it's the fans fault and I want to see 35,000 fat geordies crying like girls on the final day of the season. I've seen bigger clubs than newcastle go down, when people said they were too big to drop.

I also want to see Owen slither out of the club to his next 60-90k per week for whoevers dumb enough to not put him on a pay as you play contract.

Yes and it's when a lesser club plays football like that it guarentees a top 4 club 6 points in a season.
