** Weekend Football Thread ** *spoilers*

Im not sure it's to do with those being out but they have been playing well. Benayoun's been playing very well since Jan-Feb (still drives me nuts with his decision making and the way he always wants another touch though) and although he's had a quiet spell around the turn of the year, Kuyt's had a very decent season.

You're point? I brought up a topic relevant to football and the response i got was an arrogant one. By get over yourself I quite clearly wasn't referring to the tackle.

:o

My point?

Well, you brought up an incident where Lampard was wrongly sent off in an incident with Alonso, you also wished injury on Alonso. You seem to forget the incident where Lampard broke Alonso's ankle and was out for months where Lampard missed a couple of games, clearly of the 2 incidents Lampard came out the better so a response of "get over it" was not really arrogant in the circumstances.

If you didn't want a response like that then you shouldn't have brought it up in the first place :)

Oh and congratulations on your win with the bookies, its about time you won something :)

Final day of the season at Hillsborough ! :D

Great win to be honest, enjoyed the game. 30'000 fans turned up. Brilliant atmosphere, due in part to the Cardiff fans who were brilliant first half.

Cardiff didn't play well.
Wednesday did play well.
Ref had another shocker.

That is it for another season with Wednesday, being mid table never felt so good after last season.

Off to get my season ticket over the next couple of weeks !Bring on next season :D

How about no? Won't don't you try getting over yourself?

For all i care the more players that put in horrific tackles on Alonso the better, he's a disgrace of a professional.

No he's not.
He's a very good player.

I don't wish bad tackles on players, I'm a lover of football, the beautiful game, I don't want to see players hurt, I just want good football. I really don't agree with wishing bad tackles on players.

I wouldn't blame Alonso, I'd blame the ref, he actually sent the player off.

There is a lot of targeting on Barton, i wouldnt say todays tackle on Alonso was the worst tackle ever,

possibly not even of the game, Alan Smith made a lunging tackle earlier in the game but thankfully he missed the players legs, a two footed dive. That had potential to be much worse and nothing was really said.

If Barton had made a lunge and missed like Smith did, there would have been much more chat about how it could have potentially been the worst tackle in history.

Im not defending Barton because I think he was stupid to go in on Alonso and get sent off...

Im more stating that there is a lot of targeting and bandwagon jumping given his history, he will never be allowed to forget that and as long as there is that much attention given to him I cant see him being a good player.

As for the game it was typical rubbish from newcastle, but who expected any points from liverpool would have been deluded, but at least a stronger performance. Again nothing, no one was bothered about taking the game to liverpool. There was no one really getting right into their box and as soon as liverpool came on the attack again we seemed to lack defenders or just gave them as much room on the edge of our own box as they liked.

I can see a draw at middlesbrough because we are both so dump and that is us finished. Going down might be the best thing that can happen to us since sir bobby was in charge, we can get rid of the lot of them money wasters and lets face it ***** and start again with some youth and people that will be at the club because they want to play here, could even win something like the championship who knows, but I hope shearer stays either way.

I would be absolutley gutted at the moment if i was a Cardiff spporter. level points and Goal difference yet missing out by 1 goal scored.

Aye, especially considering they surrendered a decent GD over Preston when they got thrashed 6-0 by them a few weeks back. If it had just been 5-0 they'd be up!

I agree with you about Smith's tackle being worse but i don't think the comments about Barton are cases of jumping on the bandwagon. The guy is nothing more than a thug and has shown it time and time again. He'll never change; there was no need to put a challenge in like he did today but he couldn't help himself.

There are other cases where his reputation has gone before him and incidents have been blown out of proportion (like when he wound the Sunderland fans up) but he's put himself in that position and more often than not, he does himself no favours.

Glad Alonso is alright, it was a daft challenge, not the worst I've ever seen, but predictable given the culprit.

Alonso is one of the none Man Utd players in the league I really, really like. Fantastic professional.
