** Weekend Football Thread ** *spoilers*

I cannot believe how many times you Arsenal fans jump ship EVERY week.

One week you say your teams **** and moan all the time at how all these players are rubbish, the next week Arsenal couldn't do no wrong and Wenger is stupid with his transfers etc etc.

Care to give an example of this?

I'm quite happy to let Sunderland take the win today, can't really afford to risk anymore main players with the cup final coming up. I'm more than happy to have the gap opened up to newcastle.

Bit of a weird thing to say considering the F.A Cup final is 27 days away. I thought finishing the highest possible position in the league has always been Everton's aim.

Actually while I'm thinking about league positions, does anyone have details on how much each position is entitled to with regards to Premiership money awarded at the end of the season? IIRC this is the first season the likes of 18th place will be awarded up to £30million which in previous years is what you'd get finishing top of the league.

Great half from Liverpool. Fortunate to get the first goal but it was no less than both teams deserved and the second was a no contest. Corner, free header :o

Newcastle have been atrocious in all areas of the pitch and to say the crossbar was their star performer wouldn't be too unkind. No idea who their central midfielders are but they've been anonymous.

Alonso = sublime :cool:

Newcastle actually started pretty well but the more the game went on they gradually went back to the Newcastle we know and love. Hopefully we can score a few more early on and then take it easy.

Oh and had Alonso's strike gone in it would have been goal of the season, i lost count of the amount of passes we put together in that move.

The TV deal you're thinking of kicked in last season (the one that was recently signed doesn't start untill next season or maybe even the season after). IIRC 20th get ~£30m then it goes up ~£500k per league position.

edit: just had a google and 20th place got £29.1m then an extra £500k per position.
edit2: you are right about it being similar to what you'd get for winning the league the season before (£32m).

Incredible figures.

Playing well so far, Kuyt looks so heavy footed at times, so limited as a footballer it's uncanny. He's got his goal though so Rafa will play him for another 30years. Hope Babel and El Zahr get a run out in the second half.

^ Disagree. Kuyt's played very well. Might've miss controlled a few balls and misplaced others but he got the assist as well as the goal ;)

Also, slight contradiction saying Kuyt's limited as a footballer then asking for Babel :o

Normally yes, but I'm pretty worried about the lack of anything on the bench right now. Lose another first team player and we may as well see if we can field some of the womens team. :D

Besides we have a Uefa place don't we from being in the final with chelsea? The league doesn't matter so much. I'd rather lose a position and watch Newcastle go down and sunderland stay up.

I have to say everytime I watch Liverpool I feel like Kuyt becomes better and better. He just fits in with the way Liverpool play.

Reading will beat Birmingham too and go up. At least I hope! :D

Cheers Baz, doesn't really seem to be much of a difference between positions then. The team that finishes bottom and is relegated gets £29.1m and top spot gets roughly £39m. What were the details for the most recent changes taking place next season or thereafter?

Well if Chelsea beat Barcelona on Wednesday night and reach the CL final, which is played on Wednesday 27th, the F.A Cup final is only 3 days later. That would be a big advantage for Everton having only played 1 game in the previous two weeks. Gutted for Jagielka though. :(
