it's not as if we're asking for much, simply accountability for actions.
cheating has and will always happen in football.
I understand why and how people get so worked up over it but it's happened for years and years and it will keep happening for years and years.

It's changed a little. It used to be horrific tackles in every game, and not much diving. It has swung the other way but since it's inception football has always had both, it'll continue to have both.
Diving, bad tackles, professional fouls, moving free kicks forward, time wasting, moving the wall forward ect ect have and always will happen.
Simple.
Yes, it's annoying and frustrating, but it's not something "new" that needs to be stamped out, it's part and parcel of the game. It very simply gets more attention.

As Tummy said Drogba dives way more than Ronaldo ever did. There's also a perfectly valid argument that proves that Gerrard dives as much as Ronaldo also. Then there's Joe Cole when fit, he's up there with the best of them also

Chelsea have just bought a LM who can play LB if needed as after they sold Bridge they had no left footed players with any experience who could play LB, if Cole ever got an injury we'd be in trouble.
Having cover for a position in a squad has no reflection on the quality of players in that position, Evra must be rubbish going by your logic.
