Weekend Football Thread *spoilers*

Which world class players don't get in to their national team?

The best players from each country play for their country, then of all those players some are better then others.

Then of those better players, some are a bit special.

World Class means a handful of players that are better then everyone else in that postition, the word is thrown about far too much.

Maybe you should get one of the national managers to help you with your arguement as you dont actually have a personal opinion on who are the world class players as you rely on them to make your mind up

:D

Not naming any world class players that don't get in to their national sides?

I'll name some world class players, that also get picked for their country.
Messi, Ronaldo, Iniesta, Xavi, Alves, Evra...

It's funny this next bit.

The best players, will get in to their national sides. Then all those International players, some are better then others.

Then of those better players some are really special.

"the cream rises to the top" or something like that.

It's like talking to a brick wall.

I bid you farewell.

You think Evra is world class? Now who is wearing those rose tinted glasses lol

Brick wall? Maybe you should re-read the thread and you will see your points are invalid and I have answered your questions whereas you have avoided my examples because they are true.

I know this season is just a bad one for Fabregas and he isnt usually this badly affected, but in general "reliability over availability" has to be a factor in making anyone world class or not

Ie it cant just be how good they are when they are available - as this could be once in a blue moon (no mention of Mr Ferdinand please lol)

Fabregas this season in the EPL:

15 games
9 goals
10 assists

That is incredible. Those were the sorts of stats he had 2 years ago before getting injured around the christmas period. What makes it even more incredible is that he's only 22.

I know this season is just a bad one for Fabregas

LOL wut??...hes singlehandedly kept us in the hunt for the title this season....last night he came on for 28 mins and completely changed the game from becoming a tame draw into a 3-0 thrashing...scoring 2 superb goals.

Yeah your right its been a bad season for Fabregas...i mean 9 goals in 15 games just isnt good enough is it??..

To be fair we were battering Villa in the second half before he came on anyway :).

Without ever looking like scoring ;)

Back on subject though Fabregas is without doubt one of the best midfielders in the world and this has to be his best season to date, the level of goals and assists is extraordinary - just imagine what he'd be like in a better team

Well I guess there's only another 8 months or so till we find out :p

Fabregas is world class as is Evra.

/close thread.

+1

to consider fabregas not world class is insane.

Spains centre Midfield is ridiculously over talented, this isnt his fault. they have Xavi and Iniesta in there.

the rerason fabregas doesnt play is because hes young and can learn a lot from a player like xavi who wont have too many years left at the top where as fabregas is 22. so why not get the most out of xavi whilst hes arguebly playing the best football of his life at barca with his club teammate iniesta who have an innate understanding thanks to this.

Fabregas is World Class, hes proved it season after season as he gets better and better. this year hes got a better first few yards of pace and also his finishing has improved. World Class is somebody who is believed to be able to perform against the other top players, i have no doubt Fabregas can do this as hes proven over the years.

If it wasn't for Messi then Fabregas would be my player of the season so far. When he enters the field you can tell he's just better, he has a different level to nearly every football player on the world. He's 22. Stunning how well Wenger has taught him to play this well, this fast.

I'm a Sheffield Wednesday fan ? Rose tinted glasses?

Evra is world class.

Evra is most definitely world class.

Tummy, if Fabregas was Italian and started, would he be world class?

Fabregas is in the first team for Spain? He just happens to be 3rd on the midfielder list. He's still very much a part of the Spain set up.

I've not said Fabregas isn't World Class.

Well you are admiting you are wrong then as Fab isnt always in the starting lineup and often comes off the bench. So basically you are saying you can be classed as world class without being in the starting 11 of your national team.

Which is what I have been saying all this time. I wonder if you are big enough to admit that you were wrong? ;)

As for Evra, to be honest I havent really seen much of him as I dont watch Utd very closely but he hasnt stood out for me much in the games ive watched. So I could be wrong.

:D

Fab is in the first team  what's your problem now?

I've not called him World Class nor have I said he isn't World Class.

Clichy a better left back? :p

I know you havent called him world class as you dont have your own opinion. You have to wait until the national managers decide for you lol

Fab does not start in the first 11 if the national team are all fit. He has started maybe 50% of the time. So by your theroy he cant be considered world class being on the bench. If you are now changing your mind maybe you should read other peoples posts before commenting as I already stated that Fab was third choice but we are talking about starting 11 arent we

I guess that answers my question about you being big enough to admit defeat :p

Im confused as to why you mention clichy though as this isnt about Arsenal players

Does Tummy mean the starting 11, or the first team?

Either way World Class is just a term and it doesn't really matter wether they even play for their national team or not in my opinion. A good point was raised earlier in the thread about players from lesser footballing nations playing for their country. It doesn't make them World Class by just being picked first for their country.

I think this whole debate has gotten out of hand really and it's turning a bit into tit for tat.

He is in the first team for Spain.
He is behind two exceptional players in the pecking order.

Can you give me some "world class" players that don't make it in to their national first team?

:)

There are two exceptional players ahead of him, two better players. If Fab was better, wouldn't he be first choice?

defeat? Over what? This was never about Fab, this was about the fact that you have to be a regular international to be considered world class.

World Class players are not bench warmers.
If you're considered one of the best players in the World you don't sit on the bench internationally. You play every time.

The phrase is thrown around way too often.

You're an Arsenal fan, you naturally think Fab is the best thing since sliced bread.

Im confused as to why you mention clichy though as this isnt about Arsenal players
