Weekend Football Thread *spoilers*

Just seen Masch's red card. Can't believe people are saying it's a fair decision. All he's done is try and poke the ball away from Ben Haim and slipped and ended up catching him in the nuts.

It's a red card challenge, I knew you'd defend it. :p

Even Benitez agrees, he said the referee was 'perfect'. :p

 He lunged in with studs showing, he knew himself that it was a red because he didn't argue at all.

Mash was a reckless tackle when i first saw it i didnt think much of it untill i watched it a couple times but was reckless.

We werent much better at 11 men unfortuenatly =(

If Mascherano would have caught him on either leg it'd have probably ended up in a serious injury for Ben Haim. He was lucky his foot went in between leading his knee to catch him in the balls - the red card was for the intent.

And I knew as soon as I posted that you'd come out with you usual 'I knew you'd' post :p

I'm watching it right now. He wasn't out of control nor was it particularly malicious.

It's a yellow card and nothing more.

edit: come to think of it, it was very similar to the 2 yellows Adebayor got against us last season.

No you didn't. :p

And thank god you're not a referee. :p

Hmm. Expected that defeat really. The injuries, lineup, and the fact that Fulham only put in any effort against us meant it was a foregone conclusion.

Still, fair play to them. I still don't think Zamora is anywhere near good enough for England though, he'll have a good run and then go anonymous for the rest of the season.

Also, big LOL at the Pool supporters mocking us. Have you lot even bothered to look a the table? Europa League football awaits you! :D

Just because your studs are slightly raised it doesn't make it an instant red card. He's not jumped into the tackle nor was it knee high.

Like i said in my edit, it was no different to the 2 yellow card's Adebayor got vs us last season and iinm Arsenal fans claimed those yellows were harsh.

@Tute: so you support Utd today?

Pretty embarrassed by Rafas interview. Needs to start taking the blame for our poor performances and results rather than looking for excuses.

I gave up watching them for the reasons you said excuses, I think it was also stupid of him to say he can garuntee 4th spot

He lunged in and was VERY VERY lucky his studs slipped off the guys leg and went inbetween his two legs, if he'd caught him slightly more flush that could have been a broken leg, he didn't slip, he jumped in with all his weight on one foot. Disgraceful tackle and as per every single time I ever see Masch do a foul, he feigned injury for as long as possible hoping to not get a card. He barrel into someone in the last game absolutely demolished him, the player was in the air and fell hard NOT on Masch and yet Masch didn't get up holding all parts of his body till after the other guy did. Its standard procedure for him.

The Turner red was maybe harsh, but it was a very dangerous tackle, I can understand it being given, you can't just elbow someone that hard in the face and not get anything...... unless of course you're Torres. Yes, even I don't think Torres meant it(nor Turner) but its incredibly dangerous player, running in at that speed and putting all the force into an elbow. Personally I think Torres was lucky to get away without a yellow and Turner unlucky for it not to be just a yellow.

Neither of Ade's were all weight on the foot that made "contact", he was in full control, he hadn't barrel in full speed, he had his weight on his grounded foot, he was placing his foot the other side of the ball, not jumping in with all the weight on that foot. completely and utterly different types of tackle, comparing them is making excuses.

In both of Ade's he could have not put the offending foot down, and been fine he was standing on the other foot. Mascherano was going on, whatever happened, because he had no control of his body, it was going in and thats that, that is dangerous. The whole world agree's, with both situations.
