* weekend football thread *

Would you really play Ferdinand, considering all his injury problems this season and in what is now a meaningless game for you, 3 days before the CL final?

yeah i'd give him 60minutes, he hasn't played for a couple of weeks. providing the medical staff feel he's recovered sufficiently i think it would be beneficial.

Nobody with any sense would no, just the same as not one first or first team regular sub will be risked, other than Fletcher.

Hull will be kicking and fighting for the whole 90 minutes, so why risk anything.

Seems like an unnecessary risk to me. He's been picking up lots of niggling injuries over the last 3-4 months, i'd have thought you'd want to wrap him up in cotton wool for the final.

I'd give him 60 minutes like Dan said. Never like the idea of players going into big games on the back of not playing for a while.

Pleased to finish with a win at home, Saha getting a couple. He must need a few quid for his holiday. Not really worried about consolidating 5th 6th or 7th. The season has been over league wise for us and just awaiting the cup final.

More worried about getting more injuries.

Not just beneficial but necessary I'd say, the last thing you want on your first game back after a longish lay off is having to marshal a defence against Barca's forward line.

So Boro need a 5-0 win against West Ham and Hull City need to lose for Boro to survive.

Again gonna happen :(

If you win that puts you level with Hull. Presuming they lose at least by a goal, then you'd need four. However if they lose by more, which is possible since they'd be playing UTD in what would be a nice relaxing game for them....

You'd need to win - and hope that UTD better Hull by 3 goals, then you're safe.

haha :D

Anyone think if Man Utd have a reserve team at Hull next week and lose and Newcastle fail to beat Villa, would the FA look into it? For Man Utd to send Newcastle down buy losing to hull with a reserve team im pretty sure plenty of newcastle supporters wont be impressed. Personally i think Man Utd have every right to rest all there prospective team for the European cup final, but i can see there could be repercusions if its a very reserve Man u team.

I don't think it will be too weak. The midfield will contain Fletcher for sure, probably with Scholes, Nani and then either Park or Welbeck.
Front two will probably be Macheda with Berbatov (or could be Tevez).
Foster/Pig in goal with Rafael/Evans/O'shea/Fabio.
~So strong enough to give Hull a game.
And in the past we usually bring the likes of Ronaldo/Rooney on for 20 minutes at the end too.

Watching the player interviews on BBC, did Neville play enough games for a medal? I see he has one and he lifted the trophy I didn't think he played enough games. I would have thought the main captain this season would lift the cup.

dam i didnt want man u to win the league, well not today anyway - now you will field youngsters and i can see hull getting something out of the game.

will 3 points for us be enough at villa! :( :o

Well done Man Utd, they deserve a lot of credit for retaining the premierleague title.

Now do us a favor and beat Hull City :(

Can't believe Newcastle have let it come down to the final game and we don't even have total control of the situation..

Could be a step too far tbh
