* weekend football thread *

Nothing to play for and Carragher's going mad at Arbeloa for not putting enough effort in. Should've been our captain years ago :cool:
What so you think its OK for one of our players to push a team-mate and scream at him like a wild banshee during a game? That incident was an embarrasment and I dont want to see it again.

While I dont think Arbeloa's good enough for the 1st team, Carrahger has also made some big slip-ups this season. Everyone's susceptible to mistakes and if Carrahger feels the need to start pushing Arbeloa for "lack of effort" then why didn't he do it to Torres whose played awful today? He was walking around looking miserable and his touch was terrible, totally out of sorts since the whistle.

Rafa needs to start rotating him because his standard has dropped this season. He's been caught out on numerous occasions and his behaviour today was just... terrible. Yes its "Carra" who we all love, but Rafa needs to do something about today.

Gerrard, Kuyt and Lucas played really good today. Gerrard was simply epic, absolutely brilliant.

Carragher had a point but he went too far with it. He shouldn't have raised his hands against a fellow player. I agree with PK though, he should be captain ahead of Gerrard.

He went slightly OTT but that's why Liverpool fans love him. We could have been winning 10-0 and he'd have still reacted in the same way, iirc Alonso had to stop him from killing Pennant on the opening day last season too. As for the captaincy; he is our captain just without the armband. Giving him the armband won't make any difference to the way he plays like he did for Gerrard.

As for the match, we played pretty poorly but won fairly comfortably.

In his few appearances on MOTD, i was beginning to think Keown knew his stuff but he's just said that Kuyt is clinical from the edge of the box and should be playing alongside Torres :p

Including the goal that was blatantly onside from Park when you couldnt even get it in the net :confused:

Arsenal did dominate possession etc, we couldn't have complained if they'd got a goal really. Only thing I would say is that for all their good work there were very few times when they really threatened.

Arsenal can't defend for toffee.

If they had of scored first , they would have sat back and allowed Man Utd to score.

true, If United had needed to win they'd have played in a completely different manner I think. Looking back on some of our performances last season (Barca) I'd say that we are quite happy to sit on a 0-0 if it benefits us.
