Welcome to hell weekend

What are the roads like at the moment everyone?. I sort of promised my brother and mum I'll take them to the Trafford Center today. I'm a new driver and have only been on the motorway once so far so really nervous about it at the moment and if its really busy on the road it'll be even worse.

Just stepped through the door with the final presents....I find it easier to visit smaller shops on the outskirts of the town centre! Not a fan of the pushing and shoving at all!

As of last Christmas, we now don't bother with the present aspect of the season. I'm the youngest in the family, and at 22, Christmas presents have lost a lot of their appeal. So this year, no Christmas shopping for me, having to battle my way through crowded shops trying to buy pointless presents for people I know aren't that bothered by receiving them.

This year, like last year, we are just going to get together, relax, have food and drink and enjoy each other's company. And not have to pretend we enjoyed getting another pair of socks/jeans. Brilliant.

Great, I had Sunday off on the rota at work. The ******* said to me yesterday (as i've only been there 3 months) I have to work Sunday as it's the busiest weekend of the year, or they won't continue my employment.

Means I am now in work everyday (apart from the 25th) until the 30th, and you know what I don't want to do it, and want to leave so bad. Need the money though, damn retail, sucks the sweatiest balls in the world.

Do you people not appreciate the time you spend with your families over christmas?

I love it, get to see all my cousins.

Started and finished my shopping this morning, in town by 9:30 and out by 11. Next year im definately doing it all on line.

Christmas is the single best time of the year. I absolutely love it. I love how busy the highstreet is, I love buying presents for people, I love the dinner, I love seeing the family, I love people being happy on Christmas day and I used to love working on Christmas day.

Bar the working, I entirely agree. :)

Fairy is such an apt name ! :p

Personally I'm not too fussed by Christmas - I've done the bad part of it (shopping) now I'm just going to sit around and wait for my freebies.

Maybe you never got a £780 laptop for christmas :p

I went into town this morning expecting it to be chaos, but to my surprise it was actually very quiet. Most people must be using the internets around my way.

I mistakenly thought that a trip to Marks and Spensor was a good idea at 2 pm on Wednesday. It wasn't, not only did I get followed out by a security guard - I brought/stole nothing - was looking for a birthday cake for my brother, but I got hit by several million baskets. On the plus side I did near knock over two middle aged women and I span a trolley near 180 degrees by pushing the front of it out of the way. I walk too quickly to be complained at though haha.

I too have just returned and found it quite pleasant I think most people have done the shopping. Mind you I didn't venture into a supermarket:D

Christmas is now just a sales venue for the big and wealthy to spoil there kids so much they think a pony is a normal Christmas present.

I'm sick and tired of Christmas, it starts at the end of July and when it ends, easter starts beginning of January, its insane.

Now the immigrants want to change it to Winter Festival. :(

Yeah its pointless blah blah but kids have a good time, afterall we are only on this planet for a relatively short period of time. why not! :D

Apart from the work I agree with that totally. I love Christmas :)

We went shopping today to get the last of the fresh food and it wasn't too bad, didn't get there until about 9am either. Just need to pick the turkey up from the farm tomorrow, make the mince pies, truffles, chocolate torte and some biscuits tomorrow too and I'm all done until Christmas day.

Shopping went surprising nice today, went into topman and H+M and got a pair of jeans, a shirt, tshirt and a scarf then went and had Moules Marines for lunch.

I've lost all interest. I'll still be paying off the credit card bill in March. By then most people will have lost interest in whatever tacky piece of crap I bought them.

I'm just glad I can get drunk and morose every night at the moment.

Without doubt Christmas is the absolute highlight of every year for me, it's the one time that actually forces people to stop and think about others. Yes it's too comercial and yes the shops can be busy and annoying but it's totally worth it.

Eating, drinking and celebrating is something ingrained in humans. There is not one culture in the world that does not have special days where people get together to party, it's part of what it is to be alive.

Feel the spirit, get over yourself, let go and have a good time.

Christmas is freaking awesome!
