Welcome to hell weekend

got the hard presents now its just the easy ones. will go into the town today about 4pm ish. Town is open till 8pm or smt anyway.

I bought my auntie her secret santa presents, and everyone else is getting money, sept the kids in the family who are all getting selection boxes..

Easily done, my aunties 3rd and final present arrives thie morning after an ebay purchase, its brand new as described, in the wrap, as described, and it actually came earlier than stated, was told to allow up to 14 days, due to it coming from guernsey.

So now im happy!!

All done, just need to buy 1 or 2 cards..

I can't believe how many people on these forums don't like xmas, it's an amazing time to get together with family and just enjoy each others company, eat loads and drink beer all day.

Do you people not appreciate the time you spend with your families over christmas?

no. my family suck. christmas always decends into smashed up house, hospital visits for overdoses various or alcohol fuelled infidelity leading to screaming matches.

so glad i live in a different country now.

If you hate Christmas shopping that much then why not just do what most people do these days... shop online a month in advance?

That's what I've done for years. All I need to do between now and the 25th is pop to Sainsburys to get a few last food/drink items :D

I should have been more specific, I was really refering to supermarket shopping more than anything, which is horrible at this time of year. And no - I'm not even nearly organised enough to plan in advance.

I too have just returned and found it quite pleasant I think most people have done the shopping. Mind you I didn't venture into a supermarket:D

You didnt miss much, its quite tame (well where I work anyway) compared to last year. Sales have been down in the past few weeks also, still there is 2 more days to go and plenty of alcohol to shift and a leaning tower of stella to attend too.

Went for food shopping at 7pm tonight and Morrisons was dead. Almost surreal. Don't intend to go out for the next 3 days now, I'm stocked for beer and got plenty of work to be getting on with.

Best thing about Christmas is the sales. I might get up early to get stuff ordered on Tuesday.

Bah, humbug.

Was pretty damn quiet at our place today and we was expecting it to be manic! Very suprising actually. a lot of the people in Hull seem to have bought most of their stuff online or gone after the fabled nintendo wii's which they bought literally months ago. Other items are so small and insignificant a sales person is stood bored atm hehe. Kinda hoping 2moro is the same as I really cant be doing with all the hassle atm.

ps Merry xmas everyone!

Went shopping on Friday morning, thinking it'd be a walk in the park...I nearly walked back out!:mad:

Saturday down town wasn't so bad...and might have proved even better, had I remembered to buy another a roll of sellotape. :D:o

I was very surprised this morning ... I needed to go to M&S and get a few food things. Now their food hall is normally really bad on a normal Saturday morning but I was through in under 15mins which is better than normal, (only needed a few things as the bulk came from Sainsbury's online on Friday night).

I pity the people who came through there later though as it looked like they had 12 year olds getting ready to offer to pack your bags for charity again ... this really annoys me at the best of times as they have no idea how to pack bags so either put to much in them which makes them awkward and prone to splitting or they pack them badly so things get damaged. Whoever thought it would be a good idea to put them on the last Saturday before Christmas should be shot though.

Christmas boggles my mind. It's the most bizzarre, mixed up, crazy and largely pointless festival in existance. It's pagan slash christian slash coca cola. It's like something out of a terry pratchet novel.

And today is the start of the last weekend before christmas, which means all hell is going to break loose around the shopping area's. Not looking forward to todays shopping at all. My plan is to head out early, like 8:30 to avoid the worst of the chaos (sorry, I mean 'christmas spirit').

Bah humbug.

Anyone else formulating a battle-plan for the next couple of days?

Why do you need a battle plan, go and get your christmas shopping done (go with a freind its a laugh). help your parents do a few things. then on Christmas day just spend the day opening presents, drinking alcohol and sleeping. Unless you are unfortunate enough to be one of those who has to go all over the Country to see family. Bugger them, its your time off and it shouldnt be spent making your life a misery.

Have a good'n!

I think Christmas is wonderful in essence. It has so much potential to something really special - and for many it is - however the way Christmas has become steadily about presents-alcohol-money, really makes it somewhat depressive.

Despite pushing my way through thousands of people, wrapping up the couple of presents I could afford/be bothered to buy this year, it doesn't feel 'Christmassy' at all. Maybe it's 'cause I spend most of my year far away at University with only a bunch of people I don't really like. Or maybe it's not.

feel like sleeping all of xmas day, but the noise of the family will prevent this

yes yes im a scrooge, bah humbug and all that other tosh
