Welcome to hell weekend

Christmas boggles my mind. It's the most bizzarre, mixed up, crazy and largely pointless festival in existance. It's pagan slash christian slash coca cola. It's like something out of a terry pratchet novel.

And today is the start of the last weekend before christmas, which means all hell is going to break loose around the shopping area's. Not looking forward to todays shopping at all. My plan is to head out early, like 8:30 to avoid the worst of the chaos (sorry, I mean 'christmas spirit').

Bah humbug.

Anyone else formulating a battle-plan for the next couple of days?

Umm, Knowing it was going to be like this, why have you not pre-empted it and done your shopping, like a week ago !!!

Exactly, Don't leave it until last minute - it's crazyness!.

Some things you can't do much in advance like the dreaded food shopping.

We ventured out to Sainsbury's early yesterday and it was horrendous. It was seriously like shopping with Terminator's programmed to kill, mame or destroy. The shear greed of people this time of year makes me feel physically sick. You see they walking round with their army of children with a trolley each filled to the brim. Then you get the dreaded shortages and people literally arguing over something really petty. I saw two idiots playing tug of war with a joint of ham the size of small pig. And why do people need a turkey the size of an Ostrich then moan about what to do with the left overs for the next week?

Do people seriously eat that much over a few days? It makes you wonder how much stuff ends up in the bin unopened. I mean the supermarkets will be open again Thursday at the latest.

Fair play to the staff at Sainbury's they were working like trains and keeping their cool why all others seemed to have lost their marbles.

I love the atmosphere of Christmas with the office parties, seeing family and enjoying the company of friends. I just wish people could chill out a bit and think of more that just filling their stomaches.

I always really enjoy Christmas, especially since we've got our own place and I have a Mon-Fri non-retail job. I get almost 2 weeks off. WOOHOO!! I do feel for those working in retail though - I worked at Boots before I went to Uni.

I love putting up a tree and decorations and I love buying people presents that I know they'll really like. Only buy things for close family these days, but I wish I could afford to spend more on them! I also enjoy cooking and made a lemon cheesecake, mince pies and a boeuf bourguignonne yesterday for when the family come over on Christmas Eve. Chrismas just brings happiness to what is a really cold, dark, crappy time of year.

Did all my Christmas shopping on the internet this year. It was fantastic as it removed the only bit of Christmas that I don't enjoy - the scums and long tailbacks for parking in town.

I really do feel sorry for the people who hate Christmas. Makes you wonder what they actually do enjoy!

Merry Christmas everyone :)

Ha HA HA HAHAHAH.

I did that, and at 8:00AM they were queueing out the doors of my local M&S.

I forgot a few things yesterday so I'm going to have to go back to the front-line today. :(

The worst thing is I have to go to iceland to stock up on a few frozen things. The fact that your shopping is defrosting while you wait in the queue just makes the whole thing so much more frustrating.

I was in Argentina for Christmas two years ago - nice low-key affair - no chaos in the shops, no stupid Christmas music, no dire TV with the same repeats, just a good time with friends and family, plus it was summer and a nice 35C!

What was it with M&S?

Today for about 3-4 hours straight, there was ques one side of the highstreet to the other, form M&S.

I still need to get my sisters christmas present..wish me luck to try get it tomorrow :(.

You stupid miserable people... if you had brains you'd have done all your shopping last month allowing you to stop in and watch DVD's whilst the rest of the world is going insane :D

Christmas is the single best time of the year. I absolutely love it. I love how busy the highstreet is, I love buying presents for people, I love the dinner, I love seeing the family, I love people being happy on Christmas day and I used to love working on Christmas day.

I agree

I bought most of my presents in advance of the internet, but I went food shopping to Tesco today and it was fairly quiet :)
