Well I fell down the custom keyboard world.

Just ordered the Neo75 Cu from a few comments on here (again, we can blame @jinxpad for this...) and seeing a few videos on it. First 75% board for me since starting this hobby back in 2018 but looking forward to building one again.

Really cool to see the hotswap PCB supports 7u space, stepped caps and split backspace, haven't seen that ever before.

Looks like delivery is in Feb so not too long to wait! (in comparison to waiting almost 2 years for GMK Sumi...)

75% is the sweetspot for me, I used to love TKL, Was a bit apprehensive making the switch when I did but now that I'm used to it it's definitely my favorite layout. I've tried 65% and it's just a bit too small and missing the F Keys it was something I personally couldn't get used to it.

There are still some tkl/80% boards I like, I'm really tempted to try out the crush 80 but to be honest after having just purchased my sonnet, I think my wallet needs a rest... At least for a little bit xD

That is sounding like a wonderful build mate!! Don't thank me just yet though, You are in the rabbit hole now and your wallet might not forgive you before you know it!!!

Tell me about it, I can't wait to feel FR4 for the first time and experience an upgrade to the Zealeo's V2. Actually never even tried foam in a keyboard, never mind a real gasket mount!!!

On the subject of cost, it starts with a $100 keyboard then ends with your credit card company contacting you about unusual activity. LOL.

Genuinely wish you all a very Merry Christmas. Enjoy the toys!

FR4 is my favourite plate, Although I would love to try polycarbonate because of the deeper sound it would likely give, I think that it's just a bit too flexy for me, I actually prefer a sturdier feel personally but I don't like too high of a pitch in the sound which you get from stiffer plates like copper, brass or aluminum. FR4 Strikes the right balance for me in terms of stiffness and giving that nice sound signature.

Well for those holding their breathe over me and my MonsGeek M1 V5 VIA DIY kit...it's taken 4 days from being picked up by "Yanwen" to leaving the country. And I've heard they're not a very reputable delivery company so fingers crossed it arrives this side of Christmas!

Yeh I'm guessing any overseas shipments gonna be rough around this time. With regards to Yanwen, they recently handled shipping for some keycaps I bought from Unikeys, didn't take too long and the tracking info was updated quite frequently.

Pick up by local carrier at destination port, so it may be here early next week!

Ahead of my Neo75 arriving in Feb I've picked up some OTC 9009 keycaps to pair with it, should look nice on the purple and I've always liked the feel/noise of the OTC caps.

Well obviously it therefore arrived today. I'll get some pictures up tomorrow but quick thoughts so far:

This base is HEAVY! Just metal! I was concerned with what they posted to begin with since the box was so heavy!
Didn't bother with extra stabilser malarkey, just chucked switches and keycaps on it
I like the feel of the switches so I went for so far (Gateron Melodic)
I'm glad I went for this (all in around £150) rather than an extra £200 on something else. Proper nice usb cable as well!
Need to workout wy the fn key on right side is just green (battery? Connection?)
Did I say it's HEAVY?!?!?!?

Proper workout tomorrow with office work, but so far, so good!

WOOOOOOOOP!! Money so much better spent. Glad it arrived before christmas.

I have a whole bunch of custom keyboards...
A Dark blue base and silver Fox Labs Leaf 65 with Holy Pandas
A dark blue Fox Labs Sandglass with U4T Bobas

I also have a Wooting60HE in a Tofu Redux shell

And a couple of other far less interesting custom boards.
I use all 3 most of the time, the Leaf 65 I use for work, the HE60 I use for gaming and the Sandglass I use as my daily driver for typing on my personal computer.

Enjoy! I've got the V2 QMK with Akko x TTC demon switches and adore it :)

So having had a few days with my Monsgeek M1 V5 there isn't really much more to add:

Being able to switch between wired/wireless/bluetooth WITHOUT having to remove the wire is super useful. In previous keyboards it would always default to wired if the cable was plugged in. This system makes it much easier to switch!
The wireless usb connector has no distinguishable features to confirm it is for said keyboard. No text, no logo, nothing. Something to note in the future.
Fn key is no longer green, no idea how I did that...
Weight wise, it is just over 1800g which is nearly three times more than my previous keyboard.

Tempted to grab a second with some quieter switches and o-rings for the office keyboard! Not sure how I can go back to a plastic keyboard :-S
