Well I fell down the custom keyboard world.

nice!! Have you decided on your switches?

So I use to have glorious blues but replaced them with kale box white v2 and enjoying them. Fancy trying the glorious raptor ones so got them on order arriving next week. Board will be a few weeks anyway. Hilariously I asked ocuk this morning when the glorious aura v3 keycaps were coming in and they said they had no eta. Checked this afternoon and they were back in stock so ordered that too. So that’s a full keyboard for around £170!!

if you like clicky switches, I'd recommend the Gateron Melodics.

Very overpriced for what you get. There's so much competition now. For what you're getting at £300 from a custom Glorious build you can get much better built boards.

- Neo75CU starts at just over £100
- Qwertykeys Evo80 is under £200
- Monsgeek M1W V3 is under £200
- Wobkeys Rainy75 / Crush 80 both well under £200

Just to name a few. Hell I've seen fully built Mode Sonnet boards on the bay in as new unused condition for just a smidge over £300. All of these are superior to the glorious stuff at the price point, and you won't have to deal with the absolute garbage which is the Glorious Core software either.

Me too, I always prefer FR4, but I would like to try Polycarb but I think it might have too much flex for my liking.

Just wow! Thank you for mentioning these. I'm stunned the price is that low for all of those, but I don't get exposed to the scene anymore since breaking my r/mk addiction. Hilariously I've been so happy with my GMMK Pro (not sure which revision, some revisions are hated and others loved) but with these options I'd have second guessed. That Neo75CU is drool worthy!

I know exactly what you mean, I just recently had a gmmk pro which has now been replaced with my mode sonnet. It was quite a big jump considering I picked up the gmmk pro from OCUK when they had a cracking deal going on for it. At the time there wasn't really anything around that price point at least that I could find that could really match it which is why I pulled the trigger on it as it had a lot of the other features that I wanted.

But now there is just so much competition at the £100 to £150 price point that it just makes the 300 plus price tag they are charging for their latest gmmk pro 3 just absurd. I think that the GMMK Pro is a great keyboard if you can get one fully built with switches and caps for £100 or less. But I genuinely think that paying anything more than that is money wasted when there are better alternatives IMO.

I have a friend who picked up the Neo 75CU and honestly it's an incredible board for the price like really I have no idea how they managed to get the price point down to that. He brought over and I was looking all over it for any cut corners where they would have cheaped out on stuff but the frame and build quality is spectacular for the price it really is. But with that said so are the other keyboards that I mentioned, I have a particular soft spot for the rainy 75 I just think the board is such a great looking board and sounds phenomenal.

My wife might quite possibly get an early Christmas present suggestion this year, thanks to you! Seriously. I've been dangerously watching review videos out of all five of these all day. LOL!

The other board that blows me away is the Wobkey's Crush 80. How on earth does it sound that nice?!!! Hot swap switches, zero flex cable, magnetic tool-free body attachment, VIA compatible, wired and wireless, multiple gaskets, multiple foam sound damping plates, FR4... decision made. A 75% variant would be incredible along with two USB-C pass through ports but I can't pass this up. Thanks again.

Got any switch suggestions? The latest tactile and the latest linear?
Tactile: I do enjoy my 67g Zealio V2 switches, but would love a more pronounced tactile bump while being quieter.
Linear: Since silence and feel would be a focus in this build, is there anything beating the Holy Pandas, Marshmallow or Gateron Oil Kings?

These two reviews gave a great overview of both:
Neo 75CU

Crush 80

A friend of mine just got a rainy 75 for his girlfriend as well and she's in love with it. Obviously all in pink...

I guess with regards to tactiles if you really want that tactile bump, take a look at the u4t bobas, I have them and use them for about a year and they are fantastic. Switches straight out of the box. No needing to lube. I actually also have holy pandas and I prefer the bobas personally.
The bump is right at the top and is very satisfying, but of course that's subjective. Plenty of vids out there which can give you some sound tests.

As for linears, you've got plenty of options, gateron oil kings, milky yellows, also the Akko rosewoods sound nice.

Milktooth does some great comparison videos too btw.

Really tempted to look at a 75% keyboard as a Christmas present to myself. Have really stuck to 60/65% boards for years and I still religously use a Bakeneko60 (have 2 that I built in the last 4 years that I swap between) but the more I see 75% boards the more I'm tempted.

I love the 6 degree typing angle, the lower front height and the gummy o-ring mount means it's a lovely bouncy typing feel too.

Has anyon got a Rainy75 and knows if it's similar? Or has anyone got any recommendations? Is the Mode Sonnet worth it? I'm not really going to limit myself on spend (outside of doing something silly again with a Rama board like it's 2020) but I want to find something that gives me that similar feeling I get when using the Bakeneko boards.

I prefer soldered boards over hotswap as I really like stepped caps, 7u space and split backspace/right shift - but the options now compared to 2018/2019 seem

Linear fan here.

Had Blue Bubblegums for a while now and they're great. Very similar to Oil Kings.

Alpacas, Gateron Pro 3 Yellow and Bannana Splits are all VERY nice IMO. I have some Black Sesame waiting to be lubed, so yet to try.

The Black Lotus switches I have in the Cycle7 are really nice but a little heavy. Fingers still getting used to them.

I'm yet to try Aqua Kings, finding them in stock at a decent price isn't easy.

NK Creams are on my wishlist as well.

Jinxpad, you absolutely rule and I can't thank you enough.

Father Christmas will be dropping off a Rainy75 Pro in white, then Gazzew U4T and Gateron Oil Kings switches for the whole board. The U4T you mentioned sounds right up my street and I figured Oil Kings might be a good place to try linear, that Milktooth has fantastic videos and their store is reasonable too.

Pretty cool to see this switch popularity chart from r/mk:
