Well I fell down the custom keyboard world.

Got my pre-order in for the Zoom TKL. I've gone with Cool Grey with both Navy and Blurple gradient glass, because I was unsure which would look best.

I've got some Blue Bubblegum switches I want to try in it (although I need to lube and film them all *urgh* ...)

Now I need to try and find some keycaps that will suit!

I want to order that but I found out I really like the knob on the Q1 as I use it a lot, so I want a version with a knob.

Nice, I would have gone for the Zoom TKL (it was going to be an instant buy for me) if it supported ISO out of the box but having purchased the FROG instead I had to skip this round. That should look really nice
As for keycaps - GMK Fundamentals or nicePBT Fuji or some other cream/grey themed set? Unless you want to go a bit more colourful.
 
I've sent an email asking if/when they might have ISO support as well because I'm sure I saw something that suggested it would be a thing at some point.

I'll look at those cap suggestions, thanks!

The last I saw in the Meletrix discord was they may be releasing an ISO PCB after this first round, if they don't then it will be an option for the second round they are planning.

In other news FROG arrives on Tuesday (just arrived in Germany today) so fingers crossed it can leave tonight and get delivered tomorrow but I suspect it won't be until Tuesday.

But if you are after a colourful pastel set I have to say seeing Coloradas in the flesh it was cuter than I thought it was going to be, but I have to pass it up with potentially 2 more keyboards being purchased before the end of the year.

Coloradas is the set im gonna get, already got mine reserved :D. Not much on extras but there are some bits available.

Not sure about the rest if im honest, nothing really takes my fancy.

Next board will be next year now i think, i got my eye set on a Capsule when extras land hopefully.
 
I came out the rabbit hole pretty fast !
Had a freebird 60% first it was terrible for typing on ...too hard I hated the cold metal when gaming having my thumb near the spacebar and the front height was too much even using gmk keycaps.
Same thing with a bubble75 and I was spending too much money on switches and things!
The noisy keyboards are fun at 1st with me but after a while it got on my nerves

So I took a gamble and ordered a cherry g80 8000n tkl rgb with silent reds , (had cherry boards years ago and love them cheap but they work) it's not silent out of the box stock but after I used 2 part sillicone pour mix in the back panel and lubing filming the switches its an awesome keyboard now
its so comfy and soft to type on.... the ergomonics is the best also the font and leds are good

So I guess I like silents now !

Look at the side profile of the cherry board and compare to custom its always so much higher but the new qk75 looks nice and low at the front seeing the mounting

It might be the slope design i dunno feels good

I don't appreciate your post @swampy !

I've just had my first mechanical delivered, a ducky one 3 tkl with speed silver switches.

I really wanted silent switches, with the cherry g80 8000n being the other board I was considering.

I decided against it due to some reviews suggested it being quite noisy despite the silent reds.

Oh well, I'm happy with the ducky board, however there are a few things I think could be improved considering the £100+ price.
 
Nice keyboard ducky less you have pbt keycaps , The cherry has abs there not bad but I like pbt but you dont get the shine thru like asb
I had a ducky tkl years ago when they first came and you had to pick just one colour in leds . I had green but the led's started to die after a year :( and you only had a 1 year warranty with ducky you get 3 years with years with cheery ..not sure if thats inclueding leds tho?
This cherry has a lovely profile and when I lubed the switches and siliconed the base its great !

also i forgot to mention I like a shorter switch travel that the silents have , really nice for gaming its so slient now
I have 2 now ...got another on black friday for £45 delivered bargain ...it was down to £40 on one day with the code !

I forgot to say to you bogeyes I had the first gaming mechanical keyboard that was sold in uk as gaming ...I can't remember tho the make but it had cherry mx blacks and it was good , the switches probley be sort after now as being old I dunno
but all my friends on teamspeak hated it as it always made my mic go on lol they called it the chopping board
It was funny me trying to explain its great you should get one!

I'm looking for some pbt keycaps now and can't find any ducky black ptb for leds ..good keycaps
I tried razers and they are horrid may try wootings or PBTfans wob

Decided on the Auralites (dark purple bottom, lilac top, pink stem) in the end as best colour match and also they do sound and feel really nice (after a touch of lube)

Have to say I actually like it with IFK Delight. But still need to find a nice keycap set to go onto this.

Now time to wait for a couple more keyboards to arrive before the end of the year and figure out colour schemes and switches for them.

I did manage to get to go to PT HQ the other week and see some of the collection Jae has so was super happy with that and had a chat with him about all things keyboard related and I think I will be considering the J-02 Blackout Edition when it is released (although I feel it will be a showpiece for me rather than a daily driver)
 
Lovely build, good colour combo, its the same colour Frog as mine, although it seems slightly lighter purple. I went with GMK Taro on mine (well I'm using clones, my GMK are in their box), as it seemed a good match.

Waiting on a Freebird TKL i bought to build for my Mrs, her work KB is a disaster. Not sure what else I'd like ot buy next, I have a few ideas after I went to a KB meet up here just after the summer, just need to start looking, will leave it until the New Year.

Thanks super pleased with the build. I am slowly getting better with every build which is the main thing. So when I start to get to my "end game" boards I hope they will be perfect - well as perfect as I can make them.

I used the pink 70A tadpoles and FR4 plate. Yes I think depending on how the light hits it, it can look very light. I think GMK PoN will be the set that lives on this for now but I will try and get some nicer looking purple caps. I might try something like Lilac on Black but I will decide that after the new year.

Yeah I am building a freebird for a friend as their first board (which reminds me I need to start lubing switches for them)

They went with a white case so flexible enough for pretty much any set. (They have a lot of sets just no board to put them on)

Haven65 (lots of intrigue with this one as i love the mounting and aesthetics of it)

Just to name a few that im interested in getting my hands on. RE65 is in a few weeks in stock sale i believe so defo one to get a hold of. Copper bottom weight 65% keyboard for under $300 is hard to beat!
 
Well thought I would just add a library of all the images I took while building the FROG. Have gone with a bold look now of using TMT Story (not decided if this will be it's final look but happy with it for now)
