Well this looks awesome!.. Asus Eee Transformer Tablet

Ooh.. Looking good..

If I knew the chances of it being 'rooted' for some tweakery, I'd pre-order..

been eyeing up tablets for a while now and that looks like it hits the sweet spot!
Price will be the deciding factor but spec is awesome. Wonder how it handles 720p video and streaming it via the Mini-HDMI

^ 720p will be fine below 20mbps (as will 1080p) I don't think tegra 2 will ever handle high profile HD even with custom codecs.

If that's important best wait for Kal-El or see if the other A9 SoCs can do it (the device/storage needs to support files larger than 4GB too :D)

If I knew the chances of it being 'rooted' for some tweakery, I'd pre-order..

Rooting (and overclocking) is virtually guaranteed due to the (almost) standard tegra 2/honeycomb combo, we'll have to wait and see if the bootloader is unlocked for custom ROMs.

Will be ordering one of these shortly - this is the first non iPad tablet that has actually looked like a sensible alternative.

Really considering one of these to replace my current Dell Vostro 1520 and Acer 531h.

Will something like this be practical for doing college work on? ie is there any good 'office' apps out there that will enable me to do some work during classes.

I want something I can use to surf the web, whilst sat infront of the tv & almost convinced myself to get an ipad2, but this piece of kit is tempting.

The spec looks better, great screen, easy to add more storage etc. The apple app store & FaceTime would be nice but I'm sure I can live with skype etc.

Do I pre order it with the dock though? My brain tells me 16hrs battery time but I doubt I'll take it out very often, but it's only 50 quid more etc & you get a touch pad, but then £429 gets you a nice netbook etc.

Hmmmm

Very tempting

I would be very hesitant to use this to replace proper office suite work on a laptop.

I wonder how the mouse comes into play?

Does it only work in the browser or does it work with email and moving around the OS.

This is looking really smart i must say. I have been itching to dump the ipad1 for a decent android tablet and this meets the required specs + its a great price. I will miss all the great IOS games though it must be said

Same here, been holding out waiting to see what else is around and looks like this will be the one i will be putting my money into.

There are lots of pre-reviews up on youtube, looks like an impressive bit of kit.

I will probably opt for the 16gb version with the additional keyboard/dock for £429, just shove a 32gb card in it to take it up to 48gb, which should be plenty for the moment :)

Looks like it will be in the big names stores on the 6th April, there are a few threads about it over on XDA Forums, its own section has been requested - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1014048

I don't think it will be in shops on the 6th, most places with preorder are saying 18th April (can't link due to being competitors).

The forum link in my post over at xda has someone saying "Asus twitter has confirmed they will be in shops from next wednesday (6th) with internet retailer getting stock later"

I took it that all the online stores will me getting it on the 18th, but they will be in store's on the 6th.

Edit - Yep to confirm AsusUK on twitter posted "Eee Pad Transformer will in stock from Wed April 6th - Listed names of stores" i have removed the store names.

Have had the idea of getting a tablet in my mind for a while now, and after seeing this I think I've convinced myself. Looks like a great tablet, and with the keyboard makes it much more usable for work. Still haven't seen anyone using the touchpad though, does it just use a cursor like a normal mouse? Will have to get down to the shops this Wed and try it out.

Ahh cool, I'll have a look then - maybe I will cancel my Amazon order then! Comet, Amazon and a competitor all said 18th though.

Edit: Just seen the tweet, there is only one competitor mentioned. The others are Comet (weird as their website says delivery in 2 weeks time), Currys and Carphone Warehouse.
