Wenger - get out

If only the world was so simple... There is a lot more to running a successful premiership club than what happens on the pitch. Arsene has been instrumental in the off field success that Arsenal have had over the last decade. Arsene isn't getting worse, the rest are merely catching up with him.

I really wish people wouldn't give Wenger credit for off field things, the stadium is fantastic, it would have been made without Wenger there. Our owners have run Arsenal as a business making profit, and thats what led to our ability to get loans and repay a new stadium.

They've also made massive financial brainfarts along the way, we're currently on a shirt deal worth around 1/4 of what Liverpool get, we get less than Spurs do, its a joke. Also don't forget that Arsenal charge quite silly amounts for tickets. Its more expensive to see Arsenal in a 60k seater stadium, having not won anything for 6 years, than to see current premier league champions in a much smaller stadium.

We make money by charging through the roof for tickets, and we made a marginal loss this year despite having expensive tickets and a far bigger stadium than several of the other teams.

Wenger hasn't had much at all to do with our financial success. You'd have to be a plain retarded manager to not push the board to get a new stadium, 40k capacity in the old place, most supported club in London, most successful club in London, 50mil extra to be made per season with a new stadium........ sorry but its not rocket science.

His attitude is getting worse on the pitch, his excuses have long since worn thin and his whole "philosophy" for improving is, they'll be older next season. Thats true, some will be better next year, but the usual, lot, Diaby, Song, Denilson they won't EVER be good enough.

Arsenal make plenty of money, we could afford more "big name" players by ditching the half of the reserves/youth squads that will clearly never make it along with the rubbish in the first team. Denilson and Diaby gone, thats an 80k a week top class player we could bring in, 60k a week for Theo Walcott, then play him out of position. He got a goal and an assist in the last game, both playing off the back of a CB getting in behind and both shots in the box. His actual wing play, was abysmal for the vast majority of the game.

We can be a better team spending nothing and simply shoving certain players in the reserves, we could make hell, 30-40million extra a season by getting a real shirt sponsorship deal done(15mil extra a year), Diaby, Denilson, Song between them would be on around 7mil a year at a guess. Eboue, around 60k a week, for a guy whose started 4, maybe 5 games this season, ridiculous. Chamakh, 80k a week, for a very average striker whose worse in the air, on the floor, holding up than Bendtner and puts in a lot less work, thats another 7million a year, and if we get rid of Chamakh now for 6-8mil, we'll make a decent profit, if we sell for 8mil at the end of next season, he'll have taken 8mil in wages.

How often do you watch football? Why do you only notice these things when Wenger does them yet not when every other manager in the league does them?

I think I may have worked it out.

I love football.
I watch every live premier match going and I've had one of those european satellite systems for 2 decades so I get to watch stuff you don't (that's obviously an assumption).
I watch matches with no preference unless Stoke are playing.
Being a Stokey I'm supposed to hate Man Utd and Vale but I'm not childish enough.
I've been watching football matches since 1966 and I have never known a manager like Wenger - he's despicable.
I think Arsenal are a superb team but I just hate him.

What have you worked out?

Apparently there isn't a single manager in the EPL who likes the guy.

redknapp commented on him on tuesday or wednesday (before the game between us) and had nothing but praise for him, not sure if he feels the same now.
wenger is on the verge of a nervous breakdown and losing the plot. i expect him to be wearing bermuda shorts and a dennis the menace jumper next time he is on the sidelines or simply not turning up and being spotted in cuba.

I'd say his likeability has increased over recent years, back when Arsenal were United's only title challengers he really was vile human being but since Arsenal have been crap he's had to be more humble in defeat for example as it's become an increasing occurrence for him.

This season though he's going slightly back to his 'I didn't see it' BS and blaming everyone but his players/himself for defeats/dropped points.

I thought he lost the plot years ago :D

A lot of managers do the "I didn't see it" stuff though, it's to protect the players, though Wenger does at times go too far with it and perhaps it wouldn't be a bad thing for his team if he told them the truth instead of protecting them.

I actually don't mind Wenger, though that's probably got something to do with him being less successful these days.

There's a respect between Wenger and Fergie nowadays, one of those respect situations like between gangsters, they respect each other but you know given the chance they would shoot each other in the face.

I like it.

Haven't they always gotten on quite well?

Was it not just the media (Sky) making these games out to be real grudge games?

Well I can't remember Wenger ever refusing to shake Fergie's hand or them having a touchline bust-up, be sure to correct me if i'm wrong though.

I'm sure I've read they get on very well off the pitch and in regards to football, having a drink after the game kind of thing :)
