What A Difference HDMI Makes!

HDMI is digital so there is no difference between a 5 quid one and a 60 quid one
That would have been a decent post at the top of the first page but I think there's been anough evidence put forward since then to justify buying a decent one - by decent I mean £20 as opposed to £80.

It's not about price, more about construction and materials..

Molex make 'good' HDMI cables for well under £10 available online... in shops, they sometimes buy poorly constructed rubbish and still charge £20 for it..

With hdmi say you bought a cheapo 20meter cable, if it looks ok it would be perfect. Where any chance of it not getting from a to b properly you would get picture break ups and stuttering.

Either way you would know.
perfect picture or picture breakup.

ok i get it now,

Anyone know if i could save some money by just using the HDMI cable that my SKYHD box uses? like when i want to play the ps3 i just take it from the back of the sky box and slot it into the ps3?

thanks.

I think you answered your own question.

Semi-off topic (sorry) but I'm really hoping I'll get my wii within the next few weeks, and I'd like to get a component cable before it arrives since it'll be played on a HDTV. Is the official Nintendo cable best quality (picture wise) or are some 3rd party ones better? Also, does the wii have a digital output? :)

also note that a lot of well name companies claim that thier DVI/HDMI deliver better picture and sharper colour than generic ones.
And? Sony states the PS3 is 2 times the power of the 360. What companies claim to get the dim witted to buy their products means jack.

I have tried nintendo and blaze component cables. A lot of people state that blaze is ok but it was horrendous compared to the official. Get the official one and no there is no digital audio out, It use Pro Logic II.

I know, I'm disagreeing with what they say. I was merely stating of what they write on there boxes. Which seems to confuse most 'non-technical minded' people.

actually I have a question to throw out there to some of you guys in the know. I have been having intermitant signal loss problems for a little while on my PS3, it doesn't happen very often but often enough. If I lose signal I have to unplug the HDMI lead from the TV and reconnect it, I was pretty certain that this wasn't the PS3 but was down to having a TV (with it being on the lower end of the price bracket for 32" LCD's)... do you think this could be HDMI cable connected?
