I was 42 when my daughter was born. Best that has ever happened to me. We never wanted kids. Been together 25 years now. Mum and Dad passed away and we thought we would try. Instant success! Our gorgeous girl was born. She is just over 5yrs old.
I don't want kids at all, although I would probably have one if the wife would leave me over it. Fortunately she doesn't particularly want them either, and her desire for one has actually lessened in recent years.
Frankly I'd rather get a puppy.

We had our first when I was 29 second two years later, you'll never 'afford' them you'll adjust to adjust and suit and never regret it

Really? My parents had me when they were 40... I've never had abuse for it.
LOL! A few of my friends have more or less been emotionally blackmailed into having kids, and they are really struggling at the moment. Makes me glad that I didn't cave in. It has to be something you both want. Count yourself lucky - all the girls I meet want to pop a sprog or two so nothing ever gets off the ground!

I'm 25 this year, and have a sister who is 41 and an older brother who is 46-47.
My 3rd is due in July, and I'm 30. Had our first when I was 23. I'd personally much prefer to be young when I had my kids. But that's personal preference.
More important is the age of the women. For women past 30 it starts getting harder to conceive (and gets harder every year after). Especially if they've been on the Pill for a long time.
There's also higher risks as you go past 30, cesareans are twice as likely for women in their 30's compared to those in their 20's. And the miscarriage rate increases past 30 as well.
Past 35 is even worse, chances of high blood pressure double, also the chance of having twins shoots up after you pass 35. And miscarrage rates are about double that of someone at age 30.
