What an earth do I buy?

306 DTurbo to be honest - screwmod it past your 100bhp minimum! :p Spending £7.5k less in the first place makes the difference between 45mpg and 55mpg irrelevant, which is the crux of everyone on here's issues with diesels really - At that mileage the difference between 55mpg and 35mpg is about £1500 a year, not factoring in that diesel costs more.
At those costs, it takes a Seat Leon Cupra FR about two years to save money over a Cupra R, for example. While obviously running costs are important, its the bigger picture and all that.

A £5k petrol which can get 40mpg is probably the best way to go, factoring in buying savings. If it absolutely positively has to be diesel regardless of sums, the basic Seat Leon Cupra TDIs are well within budget and is probably worth a look, while the FRs are at about £8k - but obviously isn't the best value.

I drove down to London on Monday and about an hour into the journey, I started to experience discomfort in my lower back. I arrived in London and my lower back was numb!

Offset pedals for the lose.

I suggest you take the design of the car you want to a well known car maker and ask them to built it to your exacting specifications.

A big small car that has over 100bhp does over 48mpg has a warrenty, is not a barge, is cool and right for your age, good at 40 mile journeys, costs 9k to buy, handles well, is not crampt, does not have offset pedals, good supportive seats, reliable, not french and cheap to insure.

Hell, i think i would buy it!
