What are the worst “console” practices that have crept into PC gaming?

Bad UIs and lack of customisation.

Lack of dedicated and private servers for multiplayer games. Or a server browser. The MP in most games is inferior to games 20 years ago. Some don't even have text chat on PC now :/

Matchmaking and no server browser is my biggest bugbear

There is nothing like a well run community hosted server for getting into good games online and it goes a long way to avoiding problems with cheating, etc. especially at peak times if there are good community admins on who can actually spot cheaters especially if the dedicated server has decent tools to aid in detecting cheaters.

I think a lot of complaints aren't exclusive to consoles and ported over, consoles inherited some from PC too. Though quick saves are a crutch imo and remove some of the challenge. Well deployed checkpoints can be part of an overall well thought out game, adding to its gameplay.
True, but it only takes 1 or 2 badly deployed checkpoints to create moments of infuriating frustration.

It used to be the case that the PC version of a game was always superior in terms of graphics etc. How far we have fallen due to console prioritisation.
Depends how old you are! Some of us remember the days when things went in cycles where consoles were ahead of the curve for the most part until they got old at the end of the cycle.

PC architecture was pretty crap for gaming compared to console hardware for a long time.

been playing overwatch? :P

As a totalwar fan i can say the dumbing down of the game.
Whilst not necessarily a bad thing but the dumber the game the more idiotic the fans feel they have to be! Hence the current outcry about tw3!

Pc games being the same price as the console versions despite there being no licensing fee on PC like there is on Console
Crappy UI made for Consoles so it's sometimes impossible to use a mouse or you have to use keys and mouse which is even worse.

Lazy how? Genuine question as all I know is I bought it, it played well, looked fantastic, never crashed, controls were fine, an all round fantastic game. I have no idea how it compares to console, what is missing/was added, it's just a great game.

Well it had 14 patches since launch on PC for an already complete game on its console counterpart, so.....
