Even fallout 3 had this iirc - hold tab for pip boy light.Holding buttons to perform actions, starfield is the latest one.
Hold tab to exit menu, hold x to exit ship, hold R to dock, its infuriating.

It always makes me laugh when people say they don't play on PC because of all the cheaters when in reality they're all running around with aimbots.Oh lord, as someone who's lived on PC FPS for years, aim assist does my head in
Sometimes it's just _way too strong_. I plugged a controller in for MW just to see what I was moaning about and it was insanely strong, it was so easy to get kills - even easier than KB&M.It always makes me laugh when people say they don't play on PC because of all the cheaters when in reality they're all running around with aimbots.
It is funny, I hadn't even thought of that but on thinking about it I agree 100%. Having an arsenal of weapons on 1-9 was part of the fun of first person shooters. For me, I think it's designing the game weaponry around the D-pad. So in Borderlands, for example, you can only carry four weapons - each of which maps to a cardinal point on the D-pad on a gamepad. On PC, we were used to having multiple weapons selected from 1-9 on the keyboard.
General dumbing down of everything to cater for the couch potato no skill pleb that wants everything handed to him/her on a plate.
