What are you saving up for?

Saving for a house/flat but not entirely sure why I'm bothering. When the average house is going up by £17k/year (and I live in West London so the ones round here are going up by way more than that) it seems rather a waste of time

I am saving so when time comes the council will take it off me to pay some Jonney foreigner to wipe my bum twice a day. :(:( - That's life

Well...I want to buy a few things which i could easily turn around and buy tomorrow...If i had the desire to :p

Had a promotion at work and resulting payrise. Tomorrow is my first payday on the new rate...it's time to start saving for a house :)

Death!

I'm working well at paying off the debt I have but I have more in savings/investments than I do in debt so I'm not in a terrible situation, unfortunately due to work death scheme when I die I am much more valuable then I am alive so essentially death is the honest answer.

To go travelling/working abroad for a few years. I'm not too into the whole idea of settling down just yet; it sounds utterly boring. I want ~5 of wandering around the world, working odd jobs in different locations and just generally experiencing everything I can.

Retirement.

^^^ This does not interest me at all.

I don't know what it is but I could never see myself retiring and am 44 now.

Nope not happening unless I become seriously ill. Even then I would come up with something to make money. :p

House Deposit and closed circuit rebreather. Really should stick to just saving for deposit but I figure this is probably the last time Ill be in a position to drop 4k on dive kit so might as well

I would say retirement but for most that just conjures up images of old people going to the post office twice a week.

I save for a life without work. I've got a pretty clear idea of what that looks like, but when I manage to achieve it is down to me. If you don't have a longer term / final plan or ambition then what the hell are you doing it all for?

I've bought too many nice things and had many lovely holidays over the past year - time to tighten the belt and get some decent cash savings :)

Probably a car, I should have learnt to drive at 17, now 26 and haven't done one lesson. Way too nervous.. But If I pass, it'd be a huge help to the family who don't drive. And can't.
