What book are you reading...

I remember reading these a good few years ago, however when i got to book 9/10 it just didn't grip me like the earlier books so shelved them. Might have to dig them out again and give them another try.
Coming up on Page 300 of Book 4 and apart from some fisticuffs in the Stone Of Tear, not a huge amount has happened. Power has gone to Rand's head, Mat is irritating as ever, Perrin goes round brooding and the girls keep pulling their braids. Still it's moderately compelling but probably need to renew as it's going to take more than three weeks to get through 1000 pages!

Pretty good summary of the rest of the books up until Sanderson takes over haha.

I'm starting A Memory of Light next month.

Indeed. Don't misunderstand but you can indeed divide the books into three movements...
1. Navel gazing and various political shenanigans arising from the previous instalment.
2. Lots of travel by ship, horseback, through the Waypaths etc. staying at inns of varying quality along the way.
3. The final showdown, usually rushed into the last 75 pages or so.
:)

Struggled through to book 6 years ago and stopped there. No intention of revisiting even though Sanderson would surely have upped the tempo.

LGS protocol - the leaky gut syndrome and protocol 4th edition. by Dr Eduardo Beltran. Its not really a reading book its something to study and learn and to keep on learning. I really respect the author and the work he has gone into helping people with auto immune diseases.

Throne of glass book series by Sarah J. Maas... its rather good, was bought the book compendium last Christmas and have gone from barely reading much of anything in the past 10 years to 1 book a month, on the final one now :)

Started reading the Painted Man/Warded Man series by Peter V Brett and loving it as a holiday read. There are massive plot holes and irritating bit but still very readable. Normally would take a break between books in a series, but I am now on the third book, the Daylight War, and probably go straight to 4th.

I just finished Spice by Roger Crowley. It's a great read.

It's about the Portugese and Spanish search for the source of nutmeg and cloves and the terrifying journeys they undertook. That led directly to the Spanish circumnavigating the globe.

Magellan's voyage started with 270 men. 18 made it back to Spain three years later, with a few others captured by the portugese dribbling in years later.
