What book are you reading...

Don't regret reading them though. Helped while away the hours in my old job.

:D Guess what I'm doing.

Shirking my duties aside, just finished my first ever Stephen King novels, The Talisman and the follow up, Black House.

Wanting to start the Dark Tower as that's the series everyone raves on about, and I like the concept of the Territories/flipping/Twinners and all that jazz. Which book should I start on, or is it a fairly linear thing? From what I can gather, a LOT of Kings books are tied in. Mate sugested something about a priest dude called Callahan?

----

Legend - David Gemmel, which i also couldnt get into.

:( B..B.. But it's GEMMEL :(

Currently about half way through the High Lord by Trudy Canavan. Finding it hard to put down when I get a chance to read it, looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

Bones of the Hills by Conn Iggulden. The third in his series about Genghis Khan and the Mongol Empire.

great book, the whole Genghis series awesome.

Currently reading the 2nd book of the forgotten legion trilogy by Ben Kane, another excellent series similar to Conn Iggulden's Caesar books.

"Under Heaven" by Guy Gavriel Kay. Interesting, and a good window in a period of history that few people know about (Han Dynasty China), but hard to develop any enthusiasm for. I book to admire rather than like, I think.

"Zombie Fallout" series my Mark Tufo. I'm currently on book 2 and really enjoying it. The subject matter is a given but there is a lot of humour in it so it is a relief from the usual po-faced misery. An excellent twist/arc? that is developing as I proceed through the books. I'm happy to recommend them.

It's good but the thing about her books that I dislike is that everyone is too rational and can instantly see everyone else's point of view.

She's a woman what did you expect?! :p

I enjoyed her first series, hated the second do much I stopped halfway through book 2 and I'm yet to read the third though I probably will give it a try at some point.

I'm just finishing the Dark Tower series (inc Wind Through the Keyhole) and I've really enjoyed it. I'd suggest you start the series at book 1 The Gunslinger.

However, the books do tie in with his previous books and plot spoilers do occur. The main ones I can think of are 'Salem's Lot (the priest dude is in here :) ), Insomnia and Cujo. Basically, these three have their endings revealed so if you have any plans to read them I'd read them first. There may be others that are mentioned in passing but I can't think of any right now.

I'm still in my King phase. Got IT to read after I finish the Dark Tower. Quite worried about finishing this series as I'm worried that the ending may not be as good as I'm hoping for.

Want to just say that I had an amazing experience with Waterstones the other week. I've got the Dark Tower in the new covers and when they sit next to each other the spines give the title and it looks really good (yes I still buy books, the thought of a kindle makes me shudder!). I had to order the last book but they sent the wrong one out to me so as a sorry I got the Wind Through the Keyhole for nothing and to top it off it's a first edition :D I was so impressed. I've never had such good service from a shop before!

Just started Bioshock: Rapture.

It got mixed reviews, but the main reason some didnt like it is that its not action packed like the games. I am rather enjoying it though. The Bioshock games already have a lot of lore to them and its already starting to pad that out even further.

The Hunger Games - absolutely addicted, the quickest I have ever gotten through a book.

i have this on my Kobo, is it that good?

Bones of the Hills by Conn Iggulden. The third in his series about Genghis Khan and the Mongol Empire.

also have all of these, i really enjoyed the Emperor books, so looking forward to these.

i am about 60% through Bernards Cornwells The Winter King A Novel of Arthur,
enjoying it so far, but i hope it gets better in book 2.

i read the first Jack reacher book, really good, but i found the second one no where near as good.
the thing with these bloody e-readers is, that i have a waiting list of about 30 books, and can never decide what to read next ;)

Mistborn trilogy finished, really enjoyed them, didn't put them down.

Think I'll get The Alloy of Law, set in the same world 300 years after the events of the first books.

You won't be disapointed :)

Hmm... I just finished my second reading of the mistborn trilogy with the intention of getting Alloy after, having downloaded the sample it put me right off :(

Just finished 'salems Lot (I read quick :p) and loved it. Moving onto The Gunslinger now, not too bothered about reading Insomnia or Cujo for the time being.

That's me just finished the Dark Tower. I feel a little lost, like i always do after finishing a big series.

Really enjoyed it and thought it was finished off well and will definitely be reading it again at some point.

Will be reading It next and thinking of buying the Shining or Cujo after that.

I was extremely dissapointed with the way The Dark Tower series ended... it just felt a bit hollow.

I didnt know he'd written an 8th book until I saw it in this thread, will have to give that a read.

Conqueror - Conn Iggulden. The fifth and final part of his series based on the Mongolian Empire.

I would highly recommend reading the series, if you enjoy authors such as Bernard Cornwell.

Just completed generation kill by Evan wright. Id already seen the tv series but thought id check out the book. Very good read, couldnt put it down tbh.
