What can PS3 do...

i love my 360 but to say it's superior to a high-end PC is hilarious, it's horses for corses. the console is great for some stuff namely sports/racing games but for FPS and RTS anyone who prefers a console either can't afford a decent high end PC or is delusional.

The preference could also be to do with the fact that a lot of FPS games are either not released on the PC or they are delayed by quite a few months, COD2/3, Halo 3 for example.
It's also about choice.
I for one could spend as much money as I want to on a PC and I used to throw bucketloads of cash at my rigs.
Nowaday I just can't be bothered paying in excess of 200 quid for a graphics card every year for a platform that has a handful of releases each year.
There is also the fact that everyone bangs on about the latest PC game only to find when it's released it's buggy and requires patch after patch to get it working properly under an increasingly bloated OS.

I'm perfectly satisfied with my PC rig at the moment, but the gap between console and PC performance for games has significantly decreased since the release of the latest gen of consoles. I'm sure as the gap inevitably increases again in favour of PC, then I will end up being dissatisfied with my present setup and look at upgrading again. Happened that way with the PS2.

With a game like Heavenly Sword fps is not as critcal as say in racing games or fps. So people care less. Besides its the best looking game out now till Crysis arrives.
I'm sorry, but I would say that Bioshock, Gears of War, The Darkness are all better looking titles. It's a lot easier to push something like Heavenly Sword too, which makes the slowdown interesting.

Problem with the xbox is that while it gets many games they arent exactly targeted broadly. PlayStation has much more appeal to a more broader audience. Besides PS3 has not had half the time 360 has had on the market so number of games is misleading and doesnt take into account tastes and genres.

PS3 has had exactly 1/2 the time of the Xbox360.

I think thats a fanboy comment mate. I prefer FPS's on consoles simply because I can sit back and relax playing them. Rather than sitting upright 2ft away from a glaring screen.

People have preferences and there is no BEST FORMAT to play certain games on, some people just prefer different things.

But he's definitely right as far as RTS goes, and 80% of FPS though right?

I mean a lot of people are already saying that Unreal tournament for the PC will be the best out of the 3 releases, Wonder why that is.

Not saying Halo isn't a great game on a console. Better than the PC version! But when Half life 2 was ported to Xbox, it was a joke! Felt wrong! Doom 3 on a console, again! Wrong! Farcry, again. Wrong. All better on the PC.

As you say, IMO IMO IMO, but surely its not all about comfort, I mean to be honest, i feel pretty comfortable sat at my PC, but I'll no doubt end up with shoulders like the hunchback of notredam soon.

I feel a lot closer and immersed when playing with a mouse and keyboard, Faster reaction times, and you're just generally closer to the game.

As for quality, PC versions are always going to be superior. I mean it's already been said in countless threads crysis wont be coming to consoles, wonder why that is. It could come to the console in some form obviously. But it won't beable to keep it's PC form. We'll ended up with a diluted almost crysis.

I'm sorry, but I would say that Bioshock, Gears of War, The Darkness are all better looking titles.

I disagree about the darkness, But the other two yes.

anyone who prefers a controller to a kb/mouse for FPS needs therapy.:o
Wrong. Sometimes controllers work just as well or better. Take Call of Duty 2 as a perfect example. Halo is another one.

Again, wrong.
I have enjoyed more FPS' on my Xbox360 in the last 2 years than I have on my PC. I also have had 2 high end PC's over the duration, however my GPU now lets me down. But as I paid an average of £420 for my last 2, I'm in no rush, especially as the PC currently offers nothing that interests me at the moment that I can't get on a console.

Depends which version you look at. The Xbox360 one is stunning and is one of the best I've ever seen. Walking around the subway is as good graphically as anything out there. The PS3 version however is severely lacking the final spit-shine.

The Darkness hahahaha, are you kidding me? I was very unimpressed with the graphics on the demo, it looked like an old PC FPS to me. Unless they've significantly improved the graphics since the demo you're talking a load of bullcrap.

Heavenly Sword is easily the best looking game right now till Crysis arrives. I play loads of games on pc and all game consoles. Heavenly Sword can handle the detail of GOW with much more on screen. Expansive landscapes and thousands of enemies on screen. BTW its probably the most fun game this year in single player on a console. It just short. Short doesnt mean the game is bad which certain critics end up implying with the scores (people dont read).

Well i wouldnt say March till now is half the time. PS3 is amassing games much quicker with much more breadth. From Singstar to Warhawk.

Lets not waste time on this. PC fps are superior as are their controls. Also games like Crysis ( i am in the beta ) are miles ahead of games like Bioshock and Halo in design. Halo 3 and Bioshock feel very old in design. Bioshock feels like a dumbed down shock clone. Halo still feels like a game from last generation with w new lick of paint. Crysis on the other hand takes the sandbox elements and runs with it with some great unique ideas. Its fresher. Its more fun. Its more accomplished. Thats just the beta. :)

I know some people have some blind hate for pc and ps3. So many untruths.

So true.

Just last night I was reading a PC Zone, and an interview with Infinity Ward, who were talking about the different versions, and how the PC version will be the superior version, due to its mouse and keyboard controls, and no need for movement/aim assists.

V1N.

ehh what slowdown. HS doesnt have slowdown. Ive completed Bioshock on max settings on pc and ive played a demo of the Darkness. Yeah both are quite pretty but Its not all about how the screenshot looks of a game. Its about the animation and dare i say it the "choreography" or the 'cinematography'. Its like taking the lead role in a movie. Personally i found the graphics on HS on a HD screen better than both Bioshock and the Darkness.

Nonsense, which is something you've spoken a lot of in here lately. The Darkness is absolutely stunning.

I never said short is bad. I've always said I'd rather play a short good game than a long bad one.

Games are region free pal. November 2006 is when PS3 came out.

I'd rather not waste my time with clueless people who post such rubbish as this, but, I'll risk my faith in humanity to try and to get somewhhere.

Why are PC FPS' superior? Because I can see a massive list of stinkers throughout many, many years.
Also, it's well known that CoD 2 on Xbox360 is superior to CoD2 on PC (amongst others).

How is CoD2 better on the 360 than the PC? It looks and runs better on my PC, as does Bioshock.

You're the only person I have ever heard say that CoD2 is better on the 360.

i'm no fanboy mate i have a PC and consoles, i just think either is better for certain genres.

i also play some FPS on my 56" HDTV through my htpc and they're great so i guess i get the best of both worlds.

i guess you're right about preferences, i just have a real hard time enjoying shooters on consoles ...although i just got a XFPS 360 so i might try some mouse/kb action on my 360 anyway ;)

Well, I haven't found anything to suggest that the 360 version is better. All that has been said is that the 360 version runs a bit better and looks about the same as if you were running it on a mid-range PC (Mid-range at the time of release)

Well, my mate had a brand new £2,200 PC at its time of release and the Xbox360 ran it better. Not only that, but it played better (as in, more enjoyment - not easier) with a control pad in my (and a lot of others on here) opinion.
Also, sorry for above, I came off a little brash and rude. I appologise.

It was a great game on both formats, but it was more fun to play on the Xbox360.

If the 360 ran it better than a 2.2k grand PC he obviously got ripped off!!

Anyway the PC version is better simply because the multiplayer doesn't fail on it. (Shame the 360 versions multiplayer was a bit dodgy, I used to love it when you could find a game)
