I'm going to end up breaking the forum rules next time somebody posts that.

Guess what, I've driven a bloody Corsa.

I know you have, chill.

YOU have driven a corsa, and didn't like it compared to other superminis, doesn't mean EVERYONE will feel the same way.

Like i said, life is NOT textbook.

No, life is mixture of different opinions. Everyone is free to post them, except me, becuase I get 5 pathetic replies about parkers guides and text books every single time. It's stupid.

Everyone on this forum knows how I post, you all know I'm just posting my opinion so pretending I'm presenting it as fact is daft.

Thats just it though, your not posting an OPINION, you said that there ARE better cars out there. You should have been posting that there may be a better car out there than the corsa in this given situation, but its not a 100% certainty.

I'm not going to deny your car knowledge is sublime, but as you so eloquently put it "life is a mixture of different opinions". The corsa may be the best car in the world to some of those people.

Yes, I am.

you said that there ARE better cars out there.

In my opinion, that statement is true. It's hardly going to be the opinion of my next door neighbour, is it? It was posted be me, and as such, is my opinion.

You should have been posting that there may be a better car out there than the corsa in this given situation, but its not a 100% certainty.

Why must I have a disclaimer on everything?\

'You could perhaps, in this given situation, possibly say that the Corsa may or may not be the ideal choice for a car which may or may not be used in this given situation'

I think they suck, so I'll post that I think they suck. Just like you guys are more than welcome, and often do, tell me how much Mondeos suck. I'm also quite happy to justify any opinion I have on request.

I will, however, never understand how somebody like Noz, with such equisite taste in cars and such a lovely Elise, can actually post with a straight face that his 1.2 8v Corsa in solid red with windup windows and black plastic bumpers on an N plate which he paid near 2 grand for is a 'good car' :p

That is a fair point. I used to always get lambasted for posting in fact rather than posting opinions when thats pretty rubbish really. If I say that X band is crap and I detest them then it doesn't mean they ARE crap, just that I think they are.

Fox thinks the same of Corsas.

[edit]Thats not to say he's not a Parker's fanboy though :p

I'll accept defeat on that one, the Corsa I posted about at the top of this page is my other half's '53 plate, 1.2 jobbie. Although my Corsa is just fine for supermarket trips. AND it's silver :p

Exactly Gilly, there should be no need to prefix everything you type with 'I think' or 'in my opinion' becuase it should be taken as read.

Paradigm, if a mate of yours down the pub says 'Manchester united are crap' do you instantly take issue with him and argue he cannot state that as fact, or do you quite reasonably simply assume it's just his opinion?

If the latter, why does the same not apply here?

[edit]Thats not to say he's not a Parker's fanboy though

I bloody hate parkers, purveyors of annoying reviews and way OTT pricing :p

I couldn't care less :p

Bad example though as I hate football ;)

I understand where you are coming from though.

For what its worth, I cannot imagine a worse place than a country where EVERYONE had exactly the same opinion on things as me.

I mean, where would the cheap Mondeos and BM's come from if everyone who had Supermini money thought 'Hang on a sec..' :p

Why do people keep buying these?
They aren't the best of cars, I agree with you all the way. They are expensive when new (for what you get) but are a reasonable bargain when bought as used.. and they are pretty good for many reasons:

-Easy to drive (I know this term annoys you, Fox :p)
-Good driving position is another reason. Of all superminis I've tested, only the Corsa, Fiesta and Grande Punto offered a good driving position (though you do need to pay for the tilt adjustable steering column on the Corsa, which is ridiculous).
-Fits tall drivers, other than the new Clio and Grande Punto, being 6'1", I find most superminis rather short on headroom
-Easy to mod (mind you, I'm not a fan of modding).

However, to go against your comment (Fox), I don't understand why people keep buying MK2 Mondeos... I personally hate the MK2 model as it is often driven by taxi drivers in London or dodgy drivers who have no insurance driving a half broken, unroadworthy pile of junk with Ford and Mondeo badges all over. That 4-spoke alloy wheel also looks hideous as well as the overall looks of the car. On the contrary, I love the MK3/3.5 Mondeo after test driving the new Titanium X model. Say whatever you want bad about it and I'll defend it to its death :p

Because he didn't... his parents have bought it for him...

Not my choice either.. I can't say the festa MK5 or Clio of that age are any better either.. I wouldn't have any of them, as like yourself, there are other much better VFM cars higher up the food chain...

Do remember that they sell plenty of these cars.. which shows that people's criteria by and large are very different to our own..

Fox, you have plenty of respect on these forums.. but my only snippet of advice is when someone posts how their Dad is buying the car for them, posting an inflammtory comment such as the above is bound to get people talking..

Id rather hear Fox talking instead of everyone else giving fake congratulations on the new car.

I'd rather you didn't advertise cancer in your sig, and weren't so pointless in that reply, but what can I do about it

If it doesn't interest you don't post. Simple.

There are enough forums out there if you want "SWEET CARRR, LOLZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!111!!11" comments. Thank god this is not one of them.

I recently joined a manufacturer specific website for ideas and opinions only to be met with a bunch of brown-nosers. When I want to know opinions on my future car, all I got was "OMGG, THAT'S L33T!" or "DON'T WORRY ABOUT ANYTHING, THEY WILL RUN FOREVER, LOL!" which was flipping well useless.

I wanted someone to slate my opinion and give me some useful information.

When someone wants to buy a car, they should be open to everyones opinions so that they can gather as much information about it as possible. If everyone sits around praising their choice, then it's a pointless exercise.

Similarly if someone posts a thread about their newly purchased vehicle, then they are left open to opinions. If you have a crap car, and don't want to hear it from anyone else, then don't start a thread about it. Everyone is entitled to share their opinion. Positive and negative points are useful - particularly as some people may look at the thread and think "Hmm, maybe I should get one of those as my next car...".

These heated debates end up with information being dug out from left, right and centre. It is what actually makes this place good.

...and for the record, I think Corsas suck. Chavs have a penchant for them, and you can get a lot more for £2,600.

Well done on your first car. Despite the negative comments, your first car will always be something special and as such thats how it should be :)

Fox is very opinionated but still, so are a lot of people. Some of his arguements are flawed though ;) For example the 306 interior is bland.... i look at the road rather than the interior for most of the time so whats it matter ;)

I'd like to know the same! and why is the insurance so high? even my scooby was only a touch more than your quote being 17 and 0ncb. Thankfully it's much less now :D

Why do people buy the sports scooby? A clio 1.4 can beat them to 60 lol ;)

I suppose its the image, they look smart.

Not having a dig at you but I thought these were public forums where people express their opinions? Everyone has a stubborn side (this is directed at no one) and if they believe they are right, they will defend themselves until proven wrong, cba to debate any further or if a war breaks out... it's common human behaviour, no? :)

Very true, and most of what he says I find very helpful to be honest ;)
