Why do people buy the sports scooby? A clio 1.4 can beat them to 60 lol ;)

I suppose its the image, they look smart.

 what the hell are you on about? a) you're wrong lol and b) what has image got to do with it? I bought my car because I enjoy driving it, and I like the look of it, and it's faster, and handles better than most 17year olds cars, of which they have bought of their own accord! so :p

When someone wants to buy a car, they should be open to everyones opinions so that they can gather as much information about it as possible. If everyone sits around praising their choice, then it's a pointless exercise.
Balls.. 'gather as much information' ??? WTF.. how does "I think its crap" give the OP any useful information??? ;)

Similarly if someone posts a thread about their newly purchased vehicle, then they are left open to opinions. If you have a crap car, and don't want to hear it from anyone else, then don't start a thread about it. Everyone is entitled to share their opinion. Positive and negative points are useful - particularly as some people may look at the thread and think "Hmm, maybe I should get one of those as my next car...".
Not a problem there either, just state that you don't like the car and leave it at that.. not "it's the crappest car in its class and every other car is better, you've just wasted lots of money..", blah, blah, blah, thats atagonistic not just simply stating "I personally hate car X.." ;)

These heated debates end up with information being dug out from left, right and centre. It is what actually makes this place good.
Normally in moderation I'd agree, but it's getting out of hand at times.. mind you I for one find it more interesting, but I can't pretend it's always a good thing..

...and for the record, I think Corsas suck. Chavs have a penchant for them, and you can get a lot more for £2,600.
;)

He with the beautiful car!

It wasn't the OP I was aiming at. I was warning potential buyers - my reasoning being that you can do better for £2,600 and that Chavs buy them in their hoardes. :p

There are enough forums out there if you want "SWEET CARRR, LOLZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!111!!11" comments. Thank god this is not one of them.

I recently joined a manufacturer specific website for ideas and opinions only to be met with a bunch of brown-nosers. When I want to know opinions on my future car, all I got was "OMGG, THAT'S L33T!" or "DON'T WORRY ABOUT ANYTHING, THEY WILL RUN FOREVER, LOL!" which was flipping well useless.

I tend to avoid the Hyundai Coupe Owners Club forums for this exact reason. I only use it to get specific information, i don't bother posting any new mods or anything like that as i'll only be met with the "OMG YA GOOD" brigade.

To be honest, chavs buy around L reg around here, not as new as the op's, because they cant afford a newer model. Do you have rich chavs? ;)

However, to go against your comment (Fox), I don't understand why people keep buying MK2 Mondeos...

If you are genuinelly interested, rather than just 'getting' at me becuase I don't like the Corsa, I could provide you with a vast quantity of explanation as to exactly why people buy them, exactly why they are worth buying, and exactly what they offer over and above the competition at the same price.

Can you do the same for the Corsa? Unlikely.

IN MY OPINION LOLZ.

Oh, the other great thing about opinions is that they can be changed and swayed by what other people post.

Case in point: Me and Impreza Sports.

My view on Impreza Sports previous:

Utterly pathetic complete waste of time. All the disadvantage of an Impreza turbo with none of the advantages. Woefully slow, I mean, 10 seconds to 60? And even that 0-60 only looks good becuase it gets off the line sharpish. You have to suffer the bland interior but you don't get the awesome performance to make up for it.

My view on the Impreza Sport since ScoobyDoo started pimping his:

A suprisingly brilliant alternative to the traditional first car. Yes, it's slow for what it is, but for a first car when you want enough power to be interesting and not enough to get you into trouble it's ideal. Plus they look cool and all your mates say 'OMG A SCOOBY'.

Lukechad, I saw your first post and to be perfectly honest I have purposely ignored the rest of this thread as your first post summed up the situation perfectly. THE CAR IS FREE! I was given a 52 plate Corsa SXi as a courtesy car when my car was written off and to be honest it wasn't a bad car. It wasn't that fast (but what do you expect from a 1.2), the spec wasn't great (but it had air con and a CD player which is more than enough) and I'm sure depreciation is **** (it's a free car).

At the end of the day I'm sure that it's not what you would have bought given a similar amount of money but for a FREE CAR it is bloody fantastic. Enjoy as much as you can and in a couple of years time use the money you can sell it for to buy yourself a nice car :D

Cornish Reg too!

makes it instantly an uber car, for those not in the know cornish regs are RL, GL, AF and CV

due to the plate, lovely car :D

I'm not getting at you for any reason. I know the reasons why Corsas aren't popular and having spent a good bit of 11.5k on a brand new one, I can see why (though I hold no regrets :o).

On the MK2 Mondeos, take a trip down to London and you'll see what I mean. For every 10 MK2 Mondeo you pass on your short trip for home groceries, I'd say 8 would be used as taxis (you can tell now as you need those silly TFL stickers on your windscreen as a taxi driver) and most of them are in a horrid state. The looks of the MK2 Mondeo isn't exactly thrilling either (IMO wtflolz)... and your 4 spoke alloys = :( :p

If it puts a smile on your face, at least I'm in love with the MK3/3.5 Mondeos. Looks great, drives great and I won't hesitate to get one (brand new and I know what you are gonna say :p) once I sort out my NCB as insurance premiums are more than ridiculous for me atm.

Where did the talk of cornish plates come from?! My car is an af! :D If you are talking about the corsa you are correct on the last bit, but isn't the first bit VE? Maybe I can't read it properly but thats Worcester

And why do you think that is? Becuase they are unreliable, uncomfortable and a nightmare to spend time in? Of course not. A Cabbies car is his life - without it, he makes no money. He needs something he can both rely on to be dependable and also somewhere comfortable to spend his entire working day.

In standard form, I agree. It's nothing special. Merely an acceptable looking car. But then the Corsa wasn't exactly styled by Pininfarina, was it?
