What could be done to stop bots for the 50 series launch?

Yeah I had to wait a few weeks because the one I wanted was out of stock everywhere.

Founders cards were also hard to get. Therefore, I think to say there was no stock issues with it is well, objectively false.
So the model you wanted was in demand more then others does not equal to the 4090 hard to get hold of.

You were picky and that had nothing to do with the market as a whole.

Also few weeks for the exact one you wanted is nothing.

So you agree with me there were stock problems. Thank you.

Also you seem to have then ignored the fact that the one I didn't want was the hardest to get which was the founders edition..

Also lol at being 'picky' for a nearly 2k card, god forbid

Err no, a you problem is a you problem, you admitted to your specific needs and ignored everything else.

There wasn't an issue and won't be an issue.

I've read some ******** in my time on this forum but this one is really taking the cake well done.

I think you were at the wrong launch or have selective amnesia.

Do you want some help moving the goal posts for a third time or do you want to just admit you are wrong. I mean I don't really care either way but it's slightly amusing at the very least.

Mean laugh at your self if you like, but putting yourself in a selective issue is a you problem .

If you could buy the others models like other people did then there is no issue.

The 4000 series never had stock issues, the number of buying customers for this kind of hardware has dropped back to pre COVID levels.

Any ideas what OCUK could do to make it more likely genuine customers can buy the new cards this time round?

Like maybe a randomised que, early access for established accounts, capchas etc.

What is the best/fairest method people have experienced?... and also will the site crash again (place your bets now!).

Marry @Gibbo or one of the admins :D

TBF I do recall desperate scalpers trying to sell them on at cost/close to cost because no one cared.

Noxia is right there was loads of stock issues with the 40 series. You had to sign up to discord alerts where the stock would be available for minutes only.

Not sure where this confusion has come from. Do people not remember OCUK getting in like 2 units a week for some lines with ques of hundreds of people and offering to change people's pre order?

As I tend to repeat, customers have very short memories and forget bad events very quickly then excuse them actively (likely to feel better they want to buy product from the company again). Which is why we get rubbish treatment on every release as nothing bad ever happens to these corporations.

I was signed up to whatsapp alerts, but didn't need to do anything as one morning woke up and a 4090 was in stock from Zotac at FE price :D

5090, I don't see the point in getting a 5090. Was always going to get a 4090, just not at scam prices lol.

Ohhhhh. I got a decent discount through Defence Discount scheme at the time if I recall, but obviously yes still a lot.
I feel like I'd want to upgrade my GPU at the same time as I move on to a new platform. Dunno how many more AM5 CPUs there will be.

This is why I'm tempted to get a 4080 super now and just write off the 5000 series. 3000 series was impossible to get hold of for months, then same again following generation, people claim the days of hardwars shortages are over but then the 9800x3d has shown this is far from the case.

The 5090 is gonna be like gold dust and will be priced as such by scalpers.
Nvidia wont care, the 5090 scalped price will be the starting price for the 6090.
People won’t be paying north of 2k for something with no warranty.

There’s a limit on what can be scalped in electronics and we’ll see the limit get hit soon.
