What country would you move to, if you had the opportunity?

Ascension Island. Peaceful, isolated, fairly warm year round, dryish climate.

It's part of the UK, so we should just be able to turn up?

yep that would do nicely. I have been there in many years ago. my mate owns a place on Majorca which is really nice (away from the touristy places) but I would go quieter still.

One can dream. (it will likely never happen for me).

I could, we could sell our house, we have massive savings and our pensions but we have too much commitment in England with family.
Back in 2020 my mate moved to Mazzarone but they had got no family to worry about and every day they post pictures I'm jealous of.
I'd be content with living in one of those £20,000 two bedroom type static caravans in Benidorm like you see on Britains Abroad.

Yeah, what's the point. Why have an overseas territory if British people can't just emigrate there, right?
Exactly, it's the same as stopping people going to Wales or Scotland. We're all the same group, they should be able to come here and we go there.

depending on your circumstances alas it's not so easy now. I don't know the exact details but I think my mate can only spend 3 months there in 1 go now and a max of 6 months a year.
it's not a problem for him as he still works but I think it's affected his parents quite a bit (they are retired so spend a lot of time out there)

Yeah I'd go live in the states, somehwere in the middle, with a warm(ish) climate, plenty of space. I small house big a good amount of land, I'd keep many guns and have some chickens, maybe a cow for milking.

You're correct, another mate was going to buy a similar static but because of the rules he's now bought a £70,000 motorhome.

I was just looking at its weather and geographical - it's in that tropical zone so it's probably quite humid year round, however it doesn't rain much at all. Temps seem to hover around 27-30c all year and 20c at night. Even though it hardly rains, sunshine hours look a bit low and that seems to indicate it gets quite a bit of clouds passing overhead through the year just not dropping raindrops much. The island itself looks very rocky, not super suited for agriculture so you'd be eating a whole lot of fish

Tbh, I’d rather move to Cornwall than another country.
Cornwall is really nice. problem with it is the weather is such a mixed bag and there are just too many people and the roads are horrendous. I know even around Spain etc if you go the the obvious tourist places it's even more heaving .... but with a bit of local know how it's still possible to find unspoiled places. this may be true in Cornwall too but not as much imo
