What country would you move to, if you had the opportunity?

I think someone needs to invent some kind of international exchange programme for workers / working families
problem is finding people who want to reciprocate, french colleagues wouldn't want to.
....hannah fry tv programme last night discussing UK historic defences how the normons etc etc wanted to invade us once - she said it all without a hint of irony.

Yeah but not every country has signs up in shop windows saying no foreigners. Not sure you'll see this in Tokyo but it is a thing.

I am Black Caribbean, so I was well aware. I stood out like a sore thumb travelling around the country

Dull landscape...really? Have you been here? But i do agree we build some average houses.
Not been, only basing it off expat forum views many years ago when deciding what to do with my life before settling down. Might have phrased it incorrectly, but I got the impression from some its a bit samey and although there are some amazing parts to it, much of it is quite barren?

Personally, I appreciate the Japanese wanting to hold on to their culture and not have it become "multi-cultural". I know their population is in decline, but I value culture, wherever it is in the world, and maybe that is boring and conservative, but Japan would not be half the fun it is, if it's culture been adversely affected.

I love France, go there on holiday with the family every year. Such variety of experiences available there...not many countries have brilliant skiing and brilliant surfing within a relatively short distance.

And the food, wine, weather are all great. Even the French themselves are generally friendly and warm.

I think someone needs to invent some kind of international exchange programme for workers / working families so we can easily visit and try these places out while being a productive contributor, rather than having to jump through months of bureaucray, sometimes unsuccessfully, before you can do it.

I'm going to draft up a pact / international treaty for consideration at the next UN assembly. Should be top billing.

I pre-emptively enjoy this movie.

is Freefaler in it? Freefaller. No - two effs and two ells. FREE-FALLER. Yes, I'll hold. Hello?

It most likely planned. It seems to be destroying western countries slowly.

Australia is the only country that sort of feels worth a semi permanent move to for me, it's a pretty borderline case tho.

- Northern Europe is too cold/socialist
- Middle Europe too boring/NPC/annoyingly EU.
- Bits of southern Europe are ok but have severe economic issues or too disconnected - Some parts of Italy feel as remote as the Scottish Highlands.
- Eastern Europe too undeveloped
- Russia is too cold and out now anyway
- Africa's 3rd world
- Middle East is a desert. Good for an adventure movie set. Unfit for habitation. Also religious.
- Middle Asia not foreigner friendly
- East Asia either too different, too 3rd world, too liable to collapse/becoming world pariah or the deadly combo of being racist & still using fax machines.
- Canada boring/too cold/expensive.
- USA inequality means too much risk/social issues. Despite high salaries, basics like property tax or healthcare costs too much
- South America too ungoverned
- NZ too remote, bit too socialist and inward looking, too village-like - lacks basic infrastructure like Amazon Prime or a choice of supermarkets.

Australia has good weather, strong increasingly outward looking economy, 'English' values and culture, politically moderate and stable, reasonable salaries vs living costs. Some issues the same as UK tho: property prices etc. Also Spiders.

I think culture is valuable. Of course, not everyone thinks that way, but if we don't have different cultures all over the world then we just become one giant sea of monotony.
Problem with this country everything that is British culture gets put down or laughed at, to the point people feel embarrassed. It becomes a domino effect and culture disappears.

I have been in gym Saunas and steam rooms and listen to people really degrade the British and this country.

Was Milton Keynes your redline?

Yes it was, however the London virus seems to be expanding. The tax system broken as well as other areas, the increased extraction of wealth, has become a nightmare in the UK.

Normally, when this happens there becomes a fundamental problem for all and the downfall of a country follows.

Really there is no point earning more if your going to be taxed more, this also goes for those being pushed up into higher tax brackets, even though the jobs were never historically in those new upper tax brackets.

Then you have the discrepancies between cpi and rpi. Very poor health service, police rather target people to pay fines rather than criminals.

Very poor judiciary, they promote equality in the country’s justice system ,yet it is very unequal and very much destroyed.

We have some serious identity problems in this country.

They are sucking the people dry in this country from every angle.

London has become a fine feast, always altering the rules to expand the net.

I was even thinking about setting up a charitable trust to funnel my income into, to pay for future education for children related to my family.

Have you spent much time in Northern Europe?

If you have it can't have been during the summer.

Well it's never really hot in the summer really. But that's subjective as always. Also it's quite dark for a long time in the winter which can be a struggle for a lot of people.

We regularly get 30+ Celsius plus in summer which is way too warm for most Northern Swedes. Its about the end of my comfort zone too and i have to start looking for air con.
But yeah its all subjective.

People moan about everything, everywhere. If heaven is a real place it will be full of moaning angels.
