What country would you move to, if you had the opportunity?

I would not go to northern Europe, as parts are too broken for my liking
Ha, that's hysterical. Best keep staying away then.

Well it's never really hot in the summer really. But that's subjective as always. Also it's quite dark for a long time in the winter which can be a struggle for a lot of people.
Dunno, spent most of my summers in Finland over the past 20+ years and they've usually been good. Then again I class 20+ degrees as hot and that is in the South.

There is daylight in the winter, but yeah you have to like winters I guess. Love them myself.

We regularly get 30+ Celsius plus in summer which is way too warm for most Northern Swedes. Its about the end of my comfort zone too and i have to start looking for air con.
But yeah its all subjective.

People moan about everything, everywhere. If heaven is a real place it will be full of moaning angels.

That's fair. I mean 30+ with the infrastructure that can cope with it is no issues. Dubai for example is very comfortable but that's because there's AC and/or good ventilation.

Problem is I guess for you guys is that your home are designed to keep the heat in? Or are they a bit more cleverly designed to deal with warmer weather too?

This is very much true.

Quite a few in the UK seem to think NZ is like some sort of Eutopia. Don't get me wrong it is lovely to live in but it has plenty of its own problems and I'm not just talking about the phantom pool pooper of Invercargill. :)

I'm a need as much sunshine as possible sort of person. I guess if I could move in the winter months closer to the equator and then back for the summer that would be a nice blend.

That said I love the Alps for skiing and love the cold when it's sunny and crisp.

Unfortunately for most British citizens, leaving the EU has made it significantly (I really mean that, it's not a throwaway word) harder to emigrate, work and live anywhere in the EU.

The person who mentioned Austria; it's alright here, I really like it, but it's not as straightforward as being better than the UK in all areas.

Coming somewhere on holiday and living there are two completely different things.

Well it just means, you need to have a valuable skill what's worth being employed for in the EU. Such as STEM.

If you don't then you either have to stay in the UK or skill up. Most will just stay in the UK as its easier.

Thailand. No, not Pattaya. I Spent 3 months in the gulf of thailand and I'd go back to those islands to live. Good food, year round weather. The sea temperature doesn't drop below 27 degrees, and a constant steam of 20 something single women backpacking

That's fair enough and it's a bit like what my OHs dad does.

He may be a Finn but hates the cold so winters include trips to Spain, Cuba, anywhere warmer :)

Definitely, I lived in Munich for 5 years, and although there was plenty I loved about it (cycling, river, mountains, beer gardens) there is plenty I missed from the UK as well so I moved back. Now I have kids that are settled in school, but when they are finished in 6 years time I might reassess the situation again, depending what happens in the UK.

Another thing to note as well, a lot of expats will spend their whole time trying to say how much better things are where they live than in the UK, but moving abroad is a bigger life choice than which graphics card to buy, or if you should use iPhone or Android so take a lot of opinions of those people with a grain of salt. Some expats are worse than parents, EV owners or vegans. :D

Didn't go to Pattaya, but I preferred more Rural southern Thailand much more than I did Bangkok. Only touristy place I enjoyed was Chiang Mai and Phuket. Wasn't into the backpacking culture, or the drinking culture though. Khao San Road was like a version of hell for me.

possibly a secluded part of menorca , with my own personal atol on the Maldives for a quiet getaway.
glorious weather and beaches and still only a few hrs on a plane from blighty (I do still like UK despite its issues at the moment )
