What did you do to your bike today?

Any of you guys that have changed your exhaust get large pops on de- acceleration?

I know the science behind it, but I just hope my engine (FI) isn't running too lean now. I know most bikes pop and you just can't hear it because of the super stock mufflers.

It's a great sound but deafeningly loud when it pops which isn't great late at night. I thought it might be a leak between the muffle and exhaust where I hadn't tightened the clamp enough, but it's not.

Do you think the ECU will correct itself over time so the pops aren't SO loud? I'm in two minds about doing an ECU remap, I don't want it running much richer...

mine doesn't

it used to on my zx10 till I found out the exhaust servo wasn't working/replaced it and the popping stopped

im not sure if the fi/ecu will sort it out,it can only do so much I think, maybe a grade hotter spark plug would help? idk

usually you don't need a remap with just an end can

Started work on a hydraulic clutch conversion for the Benelli yesterday. Found the old slave from my RSV and tried to make it fit.

Started with a bit of manky looking alloy plate I dug out of my workshop.

Stuck it on my (old and very knackered) lathe:

Made a tool to ensure perfect alignment of the slave and clutch pushrod...

...which fits like this

The 8mm plate wasn't thick enough, ideally I would have used 12 or 15mm plate, but you use what you have. To make up the additional clearance I modified the original RSV spacer:

And it all fits together like this. The 8mm drill bit is actualy part of the alignment tool, and simulates the clutch pushrod.

To remove the excess material, it's back to the agony of chain drilling and hours of filing:

The final adapter plate:

Bolted onto the gearbox (countersunk hole missing in this pic):

And finally with the slave in place:

Unfortunately the slave has to sit at an angle to prevent the mounting holes clashing with the gearbox mounting lugs, so bleeding might be a challenge. I'll remove the slave to bleed it if required, it's only three bolts.

Next job is to make a longer clutch push rod, and route the hydraulic hose up to the master cylinder (using a 2007 Fireblade MC).

Riding home, came up to traffic lights at a roundabout, tried to use a bit of rear-brake and felt there was no pressure at all. Looked down and saw this..

Bearing in mind the last people to touch my brakes/caliper were the Kawasaki garage.

Think the bolts have gone yeah :D

I wasn't too far from the dealer/garage that sorted it out so I tied it up to passenger footpegs and rode it there. No damage from what I saw, think I got lucky!
Hopefully the bike will be alright for a bit before I spend more money on it :p

the v4 feels nice and torquey compared to the r6, but the seating position feels very different (my back likes it though) but i keep trying to tuck down lol.

dint get much chance to play as it ****ed down lol

I like the seat on mine it's cozy even with the single seat pod on I can still get my belly on the tank & chin on the clocks. :p

You're right about the Torque, On my ZX7R it was like riding a Raging bull with a hot poker up his **** but on my VFR the power comes smooth & feels so much more controllable, It's just a lovely bike to ride whether around town or touring.

Anyway never mind all that get some pics up. :D
