Sorry for a minute then I thought I was going to get a picture.... waiting
....
funnily enough was reading they're only going to be bringing the special edition in now as they're just not popular in this country. I was looking for a secon bike and looked at the Turono using same engine... RSV4 has seemed a sublime racing bike for years YET for some reason... they just haven't cought on here.
What's your feelings on it... as in why you think it hasn't? I mean it's as good as any BMW 1000rr, Kwaka etc... shame as I've always had a soft spot for it...
I think it's a number of reasons to be honest, I think any Italian bike manufacture that is not called Ducati is going to struggle to shift the same number of units as the Japanese or German marques. Mainly due to the cost and the (some times correct) bad reliability brush they get tarnished with. However, i'm actually happy they are not that popular here, makes it feel more special
Aprilia had their fair share of issues with the RSV4, on the press launch i think over half of the bike blew their engines. This was traced to a faulty batch of con-rods but even after that the early 2010-11 bikes had a fair few engine related issues. At the end of 2011 they did some big design changes to the engine and since then the reliability seems to be much better.
Some of you may remember a couple of years back (before I got my D675R/S1000RR) I put a deposit down on a 2010 RSV4 Factory, but after coming home and doing more research, crapped myself, cancelled it and ever since then i have always wanted a newer (improved) one.
So now that they have been around a while and a lot of the issues resolved i took the plunge on a new and made sure it comes with a 2yr warranty
The 2014 also benefits from improved electronics, better brakes and 1.5lt bigger fuel tank, and boy do you need it... this thing drinks fuel like there is no tomorrow. Less than 100 miles to a tank if you're on it.
Overall i'm not going to kid myself, it's simply not as fast as the S1000RR, but do i care? hell no. It's much, much more fun to ride, albeit harder to ride for sure. It's so small that when you're licking along at a fast rate you know about it.. being 6ft2 on a mini-moto there is very little wind protection
...oh and did i mention the noise.
Stop teasing and upload some N'ring action edd1e. You must be heading down there soon??
Soon mate
