What did you do to your bike today?

I gave it a full tank of petrol to see how the mpg compares to the CBF125 I had this time last week.

This is my first "big" bike. After toying with the idea of a ~100bhp bike, I decided that between my inexperience and riding it everyday for the Central London commute, a more forgiving bike with a less aggressive riding position was the right choice for me.

This left me with a short list comprising of the Yamaha MT-07, Kawasaki ER-6n/f, Yamaha XJ6, Suzuki SFV and Ducati Monster 696.

Personally I prefer the styling of the MT and ER over the SFV and Monster. The XJ6 is a little overpriced compared to the others (IMO). I then decided on the ER6 over the MT-07 purely because of the price and availability of used bikes. The reduced price in insurance premium was significant because of the lower value of the bike (Zone 2 insurance is crazy!). I still don't know which looks better the ER-6f or ER-6n, but I came across a steal of a 2012 ER-6f, so that was that. Not that any of you asked. I just thought I'd share my thought process for those looking at entry level big bikes.

I'm very happy with it and I'll be starting my days with a large grin on my face from now on... :D

that's a lovely machine:D whats it like to ride? power ect?

and you shouldn't be scared of 100bhp,even 1000bhp it'll only be as fast as your right hand makes it:p

Agree, looks nice the ER, best colour as well.

Also your bluetooth to the garmin and then its bluetooth to your head set ?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9qkC3q5cj0 <- Doesn't quite capture the full sound of it, with the mic being in the helmet!

Why aren't you blipping the throttle on down changes? The ER6 doesn't have a slipper clutch so that's a recipe for bad things to happen in slippery conditions.

That exhaust is impressively corroded. It looks like that might have been a slip joint at one time with the inner pipe fractured off and the twin cylinder vibes have battered the edges of the pipes together. MIG welding that won't be easy with that much corrosion present.

Backed my suspension off 2 clicks on the rear & a full turn on the front, Still trying to find that sweet spot.
Lovely day out there.

Scorpian Exhaust that thing is crying out for, my mate has exeactly the same bike even down to colour and slapped a stubby Scorpian on it, sounds stunning! Nice bike, enjoy!

Yeah I had same dilema when I moved from my CBT 125 to a big bike... what to get, just wanted a 600 simple for handing and learning etc and ended up with my CBR600... been perfect ever since and the best thing I ever did. Sure you're going to have a hoot.. I was looking around Bandits and SV650's... but always came back to the CBR instead...

@Jarrod - Nice 125... and nice colour that something different I approve lol

Any chance you could make the pic bigger I can't quite see the flea on the cats back. :p

Loving looking 1T mate.

Gave the duke a clean today, then installed a usb socket for the impending TT trip.
Sprayed the clutch cover & bar ends ( were a horrible gold before )

That does look fun! What tyres are those?

TKC80 on front, will probably be replaced with another. A 908rr on rear from a TKC80.

The rr supposed to be just as long lasting on the road but better grip in the dirt and has stiffer side walls, so can go lower on the psi without getting pinched flats.
Edge grip on the road can be a bit erm, squirrely though.:)

Oh, and washed it today.

Just got back in from an evening run out, Roads were nigh on empty, I now have a Bazillion flys to clean off my bike, helmet & leathers, A job for tomorrow I reckon.

50 quid ain't bad could have been a lot worse.

Today is a full on bike day for me, Riding cleaning messing & fettling.
