What did you do to your bike today?

I've mounted a handlebar mount for my phone, voice navigations aren't too reliable...

On paper it probably is the better bike, although BMW reliability hasn't been that great over the past few years.

Engine is personal preference, although I'd prefer to be on an IL4 in heavy traffic, and a big v-twin everywhere else.

I'm interested to know why you wouldn't want a twin in traffic?

Can we have a project thread please? :D

Great idea! I'm sure 4T5 would love to put more pics up anyway ;)

I think it depends on the fuelling rather than the number of cylinders in traffic. My GS is perfect trickling along at walking speed and has that instant twin thump to accelerate quickly. The S1000xr I tried was pretty bad, lurching at low speeds, although it was notably narrower when filtering.

Wired in a new USB/cigarette socket under my pillion seat after blowing my last one connecting the battery up wrong, wired in my TomTom charging cable to the handlebars and actually done a pretty neat job for me! :D
Checked oil, coolant, tire pressures and lubed the chain for this weekends ride down to Brighton.

Booked it in for an allyearbiker clean and ACF50 treatment next Sunday, need to have another go at fitting my rear hugger and fit my new indys next week.

Also got some progressive front springs and a YSS monoshock to go on at some point.

Most importantly rode it to within and inch of it's life on this mornings commute as the roads were dead, spent 40 minutes looking like this :D :D

No need for a separate Project thread as I'm happy to condense it into one last (ish:D) post.
What I'm doing is Bobbing in the most simplest way & for next to nothing as far as costs go. Original pic, Middle pic & finished pics will cover it & with so little being done it'll all fit into one of my Large paragraphs with the occasional expressive capital Letter. :p
All I've done so far is unbolt stuff & sling it in the shed & clean the bike to within an inch of its life. Cutting up the mud guards & the seat is really the only thing that'll have my name on it & I s'pose the finished bike. If it all goes well then I'll gradually improve it by picking unique bits up & swapping them out gradually putting my name all over the bike.
I've been thinking about colours for a day or 2, First it was Matt Black but it seems like just about every Bobber out there is Matt Black or just Black, My all time fave colour for vehicles has always been Red so I think I'll research a Red that was available in the 1950's & go from there.
I really could do with some white wall tyres as well as it will look so much better with white walls if I lose the front mud guard completely. I'm thinking cut it right down for now until I find/get some white walls then I can chuck the front mud guard in the shed with all the other junk. :p

Right I'm off out, Will take a pic of how it looks now whilst out & about. :)

Super glued the front right hand side indicator back on to it's stork...again. Lucky I carry superglue and electrical tape under the pillion seat.

OEM indicators appear to be £20 for the one! I can get aftermarket ones for £10 a pair and then get spacers. Has anyone done this before? I can't say I've done this so don't know how tricky it's going to be?

Part I'm looking at comes from Jesters

Mines done the same, the rubber mount has perished and its hanging off ATM

You can buy the blanking plates and mount any aftermarket indicators,I wanna keep mine stock though and yh they are £20 each for me aswell, might ring cradley Kawasaki and ask if the just sell the mounting rubber as that's all I need

As this is my first big bike I plan on doing what I can on this one to learn as I go. So if an after market part is cheaper and or looks better I'll swap it out.

Bought those indicators and some plates off the bay. £15 in total for two and the plates, but saying that I'll have to swap out the rear ones as well soon so they match :D

You've got an SV haven't you?

I'll have 2 spare rear ones once I've swapped mine, I've not had a close look but both front and rear look vaguely similar I'll stick one in the post if you want it's just the bulb socket in mine that's rusted to bits so you could swap it over for the wiring out of yours the casing is all perfect.

I do indeed have an SV! But what I meant was I will need to swap out the rear indicators to match the indicators I've just bought for the front :)

No wonder it tore off, that indicator looks the size of a floodlight ;) :p

Did it take a knock or had the rubber perished?

Saying that my stock rear ones were dreadful, new bike with massive bulb indicators looked so wrong!

yeah its perished, age I guess and yeah its huge, major drag haha

few 100mph+ spells coming back from rhyl saw it off

(bigger gets you seen more? atleast that's wht I hope for:eek::p)

Haha :)

May be a idea to get some of that car door rubber seal conditioner/food/restorer stuff on the other side if it looks bad.
Although it probably costs the same as a new mount but at least you can use it on other bikes and rubber bits.

I changed my stock single bulb non LED rears to 4 or 5 bulb LED ones, so much brighter and more viable in the daylight plus they are an OEM option part so look good also.
