What did you do to your bike today?

How heavy is the r3? 170kg isn't bad tbh

You only notice the weight if it falls on top if you or you break down n have to push it home

R3 is ugly though, I like some R6 and R1's from differen generations. As much as I think the new R1 looks decent, I can't say the same about R3.

I would prefer a more sporty bike as I want to go on track and learn proper cornering etc.

Out of those little bikes, I nailed it down to Ninja 300 vs RC390 which perofrmance wise is probably the winner. But for longer distances apparently its too agressive and the seat is 'wooden'.

Edit:

Hahaha, my dreamed GSXR 750 is 167kg with 133bhp. If only the insurance wasn't so high, 2k seems a bit high. I'll buy this gixxer some day though!

It's lovely place to ride in,trust the dreaded gravel to ruin some of the roads though

Luckily there was only a couple of relatively short stretches, you're right though great place to ride and the exhaust seemed to keep the sheep off the road as well :D

Yeah all the 400cc bikes coming out seem to be singles or twins, and aimed at beginners. The reason 400cc bikes were big in Japan was due to their licencing laws (I think( so they made 400's with the same build quality and parts as bigger engined bikes.

You have an A2 licence right? I'd get something that can be restricted from nearly the limit, so 80-100bhp.

What about a GSX650F??? I swear mine must have a lead frame. :p
216kg - http://www.motorcyclenews.com/bike-reviews/suzuki/gsx650f/2007/

I bet if Honda produced a facelifted version of CB400 SuperFour, it would sell like cup cakes.

I'm just trying to find something resonable in terms of weight/performance ratio, Bikes over 170kg are a no,

The R6 is light too, 161kg and 08+ 166kg

Edit:

Would I be considered as a maniac if I paid 2000 for insurance, if I bought a GSXR 750? :p

They still make them!

Australia http://motorcycles.honda.com.au/Naked/CB400A

And Japan versions http://www.honda.co.jp/CB400SF/

Might be a little costly to import one though! I have no idea why they don't start importing them officially, a bit of work and they'll make under the A2 limit and they'd have a best seller.

Jap price converted is £4000, so make that £5500 after import/VAT etc. if they were officially imported. You could probably get a brand new one as a grey import, but you'd be looking at mucho £££££. I wouldn't like to think how much.

I wonder if I went to Honda and said, "Look your CB400 is just ****** awesome and I want to buy it." I wonder what their reply would be, haha :p

Edit

Honda really ***** up on a lot of things, they've such a good bike for A2 and they won't release it to EU where it could potentially become a no.1 A2 selling bike. Same with the cars, those new civics are ugly...

Awesome, make sure to post your thoughts of the 'strada, are you thinking of the base model or a specced up Sport version?

It would the 1200S with the touring package.

I'm reading quite a lot of negative feedback from existing owners though, which is a bit off-putting!

a lot of that will be normal picky owners tbh. From what I've read, they've basically improved on the old version in most ways.

Have you thought about the KTM 1190 adventure? Similar power at 150bhp, not quite as good on the road as the s1000xr or multistrada, but certainly up there with them.

Ran it out of ******* petrol didn't I :o Half 8 in the morning on a country road an all :p

Cheap car came up on the FB for sale pages so I jumped on it contacted the seller & arranged & early viewing, Cruised over on the bike with the tap on "On" bought the car payed sorted paperwork then had my mate go collect it with his recovery truck so I could shoot off home & get ready for my 10.10am Dentists appointment. Cruising home & splutter splutter so I put the petcock to "Reserve" bike kept spluttering then died, Checked the tank & I'm as dry as a Nuns **** :D Had to ring my mate Jim for an Emergency fuel drop off so I was only stood by the side of the road for 15 mins, Strangely about 5 cows come over to the fence near me & just stood there whilst I chatted to them :p
Anyways, The Vulcan has 3 positions for the petcock On - Low start & Reserve, The low start is for when you want to restart after an empty, I think it drains right from the bottom so I must have been in that position when I switched from On to Reserve. Bike started straight up onced I stuck fuel in & it ran as sweet as it always did on the way back home, Thank **** I was close to home I won't make that mistake again I can tell ya. :p I do plan on getting a Tune Jet/Carb kit anyways so it won't be long before I strip the carb down & rejet it clean it out etc
Oh & Yes some Bikes did pass me without stopping the miserable ******** :p

@4TS - Lol... man fel your pain hahaha. And yeah, when I had a puncture in the @@@@ end of knowhere I spoke to local cows as well lmfao.

nothing worse than conking out, forgetting your on reserve

also had the plastic fuel tube inside the tank fall out so it will only work on reserve, took me ages to figure it out till I looked inside the tank and saw the tube floating, removed the petrol tap and plugged it back in haha

I've had the tap go before so it would only run on reserve from then on. Got round it buy opening up the tank and knocking bike between my knees to work out if I had enough.

Don't miss having to do that though

Ahh the old "open cap, peer in while moving bike from side to side, and going... yeah that's enough to get me there" :D I still do that on my bike which has a fuel gauge and a reserve indicator!

I didn't get much video :( it was closed more than it was open, there were so many crashes it was unreal. Should be able to put a lap or 2 up at least in next few days.
