What did you do to your bike today?

Gave my chain a lube again tonight and I've offically run out of the wd40 chain lube. It's decent stuff, got about 9000 miles on the chain and sprockets and had to adjust the chain once or twice in that time.

I'll give the castrol racing lube a try this time round, is the castrol chain cleaner stuff any good? or am I better of just getting some parrafin from a DIY store? I don't wash my bike very often, but under all that filth is a well lubed chain ;) just need to give it a good scrub before lubing it up with the new stuff :p

9,000 miles isn't much? Did it need replacing after that, or do you mean you only had to adjust it a couple of times in 9,000 miles and you're still running on it?

The Castrol stuff is awesome. No rust, always looks nice and lubed and have adjusted once, but I was still within my range limit so didn't really need it.

Not sure about the cleaner. I used SDOC chain cleaner last time, which was amazing. Spray on, leave for 30 mins, spray off. Came out like new. Paraffin will do the job at a fraction of the price, but it's messy and needs more effort.

I replaced the chain and both sprockets when I had my off back in February, looking at fuelly I'd done about 1000 miles on the bike since the start of the year and I've done 10,000 in total already this year - so that's 9000 miles with just 1 or 2 adjustments needed. :) I actually can't remember the last time I adjusted it, back in the summer I think  At this rate I'll easily get 20k minimum out of the chain and sprockets.

I'll have a look for that cleaner, anything to make the job less messy is good - I hate having to get stuck in with an old toothbrush!

Im at just over 8000 on my current chain, adjusted and cleaned twice this year i think, scottoiler takes care of the rest. New front sprocket came today, mine is becoming rather hooked, clicking on chain when i push the bike along (I'm twist happy once i get onto nsl roads) caught it just in time, albeit later than ideal, as the chain and rear sprocket is fine. I'm hoping for another 8k out the chain with a fresh front sprocket. I'm working at a 2:1 sprocket to chain ratio, hopefully the scottoiler will increase this to 3:1 but i doubt ,y riding style will allow this.

you wanna add a front mudguard to your shopping list ! idk how you stand it

gonna be bad when they salt the roads

dunno how many miles on my chain, think ive lubed it about 3 or 4 times in total, not once cleaned I like em filthy

You'll like the sdoc chain cleaner stuff then. Once you've sprayed it on and left for around 30 mins, you just spray off with the hose and a little bit of rubbing to get the slightly tougher stuff off. Had my chain looking new in a few mins with the stuff :D. No mess at all and cleans up your sprocket nicely as well.

Got any pictures please? :)
Sorry for the late reply - bike is covered and locked at the moment but I did take a picture of the levers before they were fitted (stupidly forgot to focus it though lol). They match my bike's colour scheme, got them from eBay!

Selling the bike waiting for AD approval and...

I'll comeback to biking during spring though, I'll probably miss it...

Naaah, I'll still get a bike although it wont be anything special, I'm really low on cash now. I guess there's no point spending lots on first bigger bike which'll be restricted to 47bhp anyways...

My mate is considering selling his SD990 and getting RX-7 or S15. If I got a S15, I would probably spent all money on mods haha :p
